4th Winter Youth Olympic Games Gangwon 2024 – Information for the media

1) GENERAL INFORMATION     

The world’s most promising young winter athletes will take part in the 4th Winter Youth Olympic Games (YOG). This edition of the YOG will be held in the Province of Gangwon in the Republic of Korea, which hosted the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018.

Many YOG athletes have gone on to become Olympic champions. Some notable examples include Lim Hyo-jun (short-track speed skating, Republic of Korea), Gu Ailing Eileen (freestyle skiing, People’s Republic of China), Andreas Wellinger (ski jumping, Germany),  Chloe Kim (snowboard, USA) and Petra Vlhova (Alpine skiing, Slovakia).

The YOG Gangwon 2024 will take place from Friday, 19 January to Thursday, 1 February 2024.

2) ACCREDITATION

Media representatives interested in covering the Winter YOG Gangwon 2024 should submit their accreditation application on the Media Registration Portal.

The application period is from 1 August to 10 October 2023, until 23:59 KST.

The registration is open for media rights holders and non-media rights holders, written press and photographers, as well as writers and photographers working for publications and/or websites of National Olympic Committees and International Federations.

3) ENTRY VISA

As the Youth Olympic Accreditation Cards (YOACs) for the Winter YOG Gangwon 2024 will not serve as a visa and will not be mailed prior to the YOG, it is the responsibility of all media to verify the documents required for entry into the Republic of Korea.

4) ACCOMMODATION

Gangwon 2024 has pre-selected some hotels for the media. These hotels are located in the clusters of Gangneung, PyeongChang, Jeongseon and Hoengseong, all of which are YOG host cities. Media hotels are in close proximity to the Youth Olympic Villages and competition venues. The Common Shuttle Service (CSS) will be provided at all official accommodation.

5) TRANSPORT

Accredited media can use Gangwon 2024 transport services.

The Common Shuttle Service (CSS) operated by Gangwon 2024 will be a shared bus service connecting all Games venues, including media hotels and the Main Media Centre (MMC).
