Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna unveiled their latest collection ‘Equinox’ at FDCI India Couture Week, with Sobhita Dhulipala and Ishaan Khattar as the showstoppers. The show’s mood was set by an original soundtrack that merges deep house and tabla beats. This mood is elevated by a set design conceptualized by White Domers featuring reflective metal installations on a black mirror ramp.

The designers say, “Equinox marries faith and fable, with architecture and craft to birth a collection that is equally balanced. Equinox’s patterns draw from the mathematical plotting of the sun and earth’s path, and their representation on vintage kaleidoscopic windows found across the world from Bombay to Manhattan. Much of the collection draws from long wintery walks where ancient metal fences with trellis designs were the only spot of floral hope. India Couture Week is the perfect place to launch a collection of artistic and craft details.”

Styled by Daniel Franklin the collection features mesmerizing patterns and brings them to life in rich, unlined fabrics, and hypnotic 3D embroidery techniques. In keeping with the collection’s aesthetic, hair and make-up by Anu Kaushik features sleek hair with embellished eyes.

The craft in this collection popped on the ramp in its representation of body art, or tattoos, on gossamer fabric. Metallic brocades, organic handwoven fabrics and silk velvet were sculpted to the skin while three-dimensional embroideries in hypnotics glass technique and metallic threads add depth and dimension.

Whether you’re waltzing in historic palaces that dot the subcontinent or walking down the red carpet of a pre-wedding cocktail event, Rohit + Rahul’s ‘Equinox’ blends artistic precision in lush fabrics with detailed craft technique to create garments that kindle all senses. Finally, glitch effects expand on RGRK’s vocabulary of imprecise mathematical representations to disrupt traditional expectations and infuse the collection with a contemporary flair. Every unexpected element in this collection challenges the boundaries of haute couture, creating a captivating and avant-garde aesthetic.

“This evening brought together the best of modern art, fashion and jewellery design. We’re delighted to have partnered with Rohit Gandhi + Rahul Khanna as their official jewellery partners for this grand and exquisite show. The unique designs and craftsmanship of our diamond pieces truly complemented each of the designer duo’s outstanding creations. We look forward to more such collaborations with like-minded artists in the future,” said Ishmita and Golu Badalia of Badalia Diamonds.

The showstoppers were the highlights of this evening. Shobhita Dhulipala wore her personality of funky and modern in a mermaid skirt with a slit paired with an unusual blouse and a dupatta draped like a cape. Ishaan Khattar in an embellished Navy Tuxedo and satin silk scarf. The two brought high energy to a sizzling ramp.
