Noida Authorities Appeal People To Evacuate Houses As Water Level Rises In Hindon River. As heavy rains lash parts of Greater Noida, the many areas near remain submerged due to the rise in water level in the Hindon River. The authorities are evacuating people from dangerous areas and moving them to safe shelters for their protection. “There is a dump yard of Ola company where old and damaged vehicles are kept. They were given 2 notices by the police administration to remove the vehicles…The surrounding villages have been evacuated. There is no loss of life of any kind…” Yadav told news agency ANI.

1. India Meteorological Department regional centre in Mumbai on Wednesday issued orange alert for Mumbai and other districts of Maharashtra indicating that heavy to very heavy rainfall till 27 Jul.

7. The Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, officially inaugurated a centralized Aviation Security Control Centre (ASCC) established by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) in New Delhi. The primary objective behind this initiative is to effectively address the prevailing security challenges. The ASCC will be responsible for monitoring all potential threats and social media activity pertaining to the 66 civil airports currently under the CISF’s security coverage.

1. Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, said that it acquired a 3.53% stake in private sector lender RBL Bank for Rs 417 Crore. Further investments up to a 9.9% interest were also discussed by the company.

2. The private sector lender Axis Bank has revised its interest rates on fixed deposits of less than Rs 2 Cr effective from 26 Jul. Following the revision the bank is offering interest rates ranging from 3.50% to 7.00% for the general public and 3.50% to 7.75% on fixed deposits maturing in 7 days to 10 years.

1. The Indian armed forces have recently announced their decision to initiate another round of “cross postings,” involving officers of the rank of colonel and brigadier from the Army, who will temporarily serve in the Navy and Air Force, and vice versa. Preparations for this move, set to take place in October- November.

2. On the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas on 26 Jul, PM Modi paid tribute to the fallen soldiers of the 1999 Kargil war, hailing them as an inspiration for the nation.

5. In a major boost for self-reliance in the defence sector, India is indigenously developing a three-layered long-range surface-to-air missile (LRSAM) defence system which would be able to strike down enemy aircraft and missiles at around 400 Km ranges.

6. Army Postal Service Corps inaugurated the first Permanent Aadhaar Enrolment Centre-PAEC at Central Base Post Office in New Delhi.

This initiative will facilitate Aadhaar related services for tri-services personnel and their dependents through their Field Post Offices in 48 identified locations across the country.

7. Bengaluru: Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and Argentina’s Ministry of Defence signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) on productive cooperation and acquisition of Light and Medium Utility Helicopters for its armed forces.

8. During the 8th India-Australia Defence Policy Talks held at Canberra in Australia, India and Australia have reviewed the bilateral defence cooperation and explored new initiatives to further strengthen and deepen bilateral defence engagements.
