CBSE asks schools to consider Indian languages as teaching medium
The move is a part of the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which envisages the use of mother tongue or regional or Indian languages as the medium of instruction until at least Grade 5, and preferably till Grade 8 and beyond. The policy also recommends promoting multilingualism among students.

1. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has achieved major success in busting the Kerala ISIS module. It has averted possible terror attacks on Places of worship and leaders of certain communities. NIA conducted an intelligence-led joint operation with the Anti-Terrorist Squad ATS of Kerala Police and searched four locations. The raids were conducted at three locations in Thrissur and one in Palakkad.

2. Why did 2-month-old Manipur video surface a day before Monsoon Session: BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad condemned the Manipur video and spoke about its timing. Addressing a press conference, Prasad said, “We are in July, right? An incident that occurred in the first week of May suddenly surfaces on Twitter…one day before the Monsoon Session and then an uproar begins.” He added, “I am reiterating that whatever happened was wrong.”

4. Solicitor General of India Tushar Mehta wrote to Union home secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla on Friday flagging a “serious security lapse” after Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front chief Yasin Malik, serving life term in Tihar jail, was brought to the Supreme Court for attending a case proceeding.

Malik, who is in jail following his conviction and life sentence in a terror funding case, was brought to the high-security apex court premises in a prison van escorted by armed security personnel without the court’s permission.

Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun has threatened Home Minister Amit Shah, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Indian High Commissioner to Canada SK Verma, in a video released on Friday. Holding them responsible for Khalistani terrorist HS Nijjar’s assassination, Pannun offered a reward of $125,000 (over ₹1 crore) to anyone providing information about the leaders’ foreign visits.

1. Indian military moves towards integrated theatre commands, a Parliamentary Standing Committee has given the nod to plans to bring in a law that will enable all existing tri-service and future theatre commanders to exercise disciplinary powers over personnel under them.

The move comes 22 years after India created its first tri-service command — the Andaman and Nicobar Command.

2. The Indian Navy has launched the second edition of The Indian Navy Quiz “G20 THINQ” under the aegis of the G20 Secretariat and the Navy Welfare and Wellness Association in New Delhi.

3. The Ministry of Culture and the Indian Navy have collaborated through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to revive and preserve the ancient 2000-year-old shipbuilding technique known as the ‘stitched shipbuilding method‘ or ‘Tankai method.

This shipbuilding technique which entails stitching wooden planks together to build ships, eschewing the use of nails. By adopting this method, ships gain enhanced flexibility and durability, reducing their vulnerability to damage from shoals and sandbars.

4. The Defence Research and Development Organisation will commence the underwater trials of its fuel cell-based Air Independent Propulsion (AIP) system early next year.

5. Minister of State for Defence Ajay Bhatt said in a written response to a query in Lok Sabha, that the Army faces shortage of 6800 officers, but the available strength is “sufficient” to meet the current operational requirements.
