1. Former Team India pacer Ajit Agarkar has been appointed the chief selector of Team India. He was unanimously recommended for the post by the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) comprising Sulakshana Naik, Ashok Malhotra and Jatin Paranjape.
2. India beat Kuwait 5-4 in penalty shootout to win SAFF Championships title for 9th time. The match was held at the Sri Kantirawa Stadium after a 1-1 draw in regulation time, and the tie continued in 30 minutes of extra time. Finally, the result of the match was a penalty shootout. India’s goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh’s role was decisive in this. Even in the penalty shootout, after both teams were tied 4-4 after five attempts, Mahesh Singh scored on the sixth attempt to give India a 5-4 lead.
