1. Football, India will take on Kuwait in the last Group A game of the SAFF Championship at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru today. The match will begin at 7:30 PM Indian Time.

2. The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has invited nominations for the Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award-TANNA 2022. These National Adventure Awards are conferred by the Ministry to youth in order to recognise the achievements of persons associated with the field of adventure.

3. Union Information and Broadcasting and Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Anurag Singh Thakur inaugurated newly constructed State-of-the-art BSF Hockey Turf Ground at BSF campus Jalandhar.

4. Zimbabwe recorded the second-biggest victory in ODI cricket history. Zimbabwe defeated USA by 304 runs in their ODI World Cup 2023 Qualifier match. The biggest-ever victory in ODI cricket was recorded by India on January 15, 2023, when they defeated Sri Lanka by 317 runs. Zimbabwe’s previous biggest ODI win (202 runs) came against Kenya on March 27, 1999.

5. The ICC has shared a picture of the ODI World Cup trophy in space. The ICC sent the trophy to the space for launching the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Trophy Tour 2023. The trophy was launched into the stratosphere, 1,20,000 feet above the Earth, through a stratospheric balloon before making a landing at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

6. The Indian women’s doubles pair of Sutirtha Mukherjee and Ayhika Mukherjee won the World Table Tennis, ( WTT) Contender tournament in Tunis, after beating the Japanese pair of Miyuu Kihara and Miwa Harimoto.

7. Women’s Ashes Test Match: Australia defeats England by 89 runs at Trent Bridge & takes a 4-0 points lead in multi-format series

8. Special Olympics World Games 2023 in Berlin 17-25 June:

(a) Germany hosted the 16th Special Olympics World Games for the first time. Thousands of athletes with intellectual disabilities competed in 26 sports.

(b) India ended its Special Olympics World Games 2023 campaign by winning 202 medals (76 gold, 75 silver and 51 bronze), with the last of the medals coming from the athletics track. Indian athletes notched six medals from the track events (2 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze).

9. The Adani Group launched the “Jeetenge Hum” campaign during the event, with the goal of rallying support for Team India and boosting morale ahead of the upcoming ICC ODI Cricket World Cup 2023.
