1. The Jagannath Puri Rath Yatra 2023, celebrating Lord Krishna, Balbhadra, and Subhadra will take place on today, on 20 June 2023. The festival is mainly celebrated in Puri, Odisha, with devotees travelling from across the country. The nine-day long Rath Yatra beginning on Tuesday.

Gorakhpur-based Gita Press, which is the world’s largest publisher of Hindu religious texts, has declined the Rs 1 crore cash award for the Gandhi Peace Prize amid a political row over its selection for the prestigious honour. It was founded in 1923 by Jaya Dayal Goyanka and Ghanshyam Das Jalan.
12. UNIFORM CIVIL CODE : Jamiat chief Arshad Madani said Uniform Civil Code is against democracy. The All India Muslim Personal Law Board said it considered Uniform Civil Code unnecessary.
What is UCC?
Uniform Civil Code, under Article 44, Part 5 is a common legal framework for all citizens, irrespective of their religious beliefs and practices which has motive of equal treatment amongst all Indian citizens regardless of their religious, ethnic, or caste backgrounds.
The Uniform Civil Code (UCC) calls for the formulation of one law for India, which would be applicable to all religious communities in matters such as marriage, divorce, inheritance, adoption.
Why UCC is not possible in India?
Article 25 gives every religious group the right to manage its own affairs.

1. India gifted the indigenously-built in-service missile corvette INS Kirpan to Vietnam to enhance that country’s naval capabilities. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh announced this on June 19 after bilateral talks with his visiting Vietnamese counterpart General Phan Van Gang.
2. The Indian Army completed its latest ‘Agneyastra-1’ military exercise in the eastern Ladakh sector.
The exercise witnessed the deployment of Idea Forge’s indigenous ‘Switch’ unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). The Indian Army had placed an order for these UAVs in early January 2021, at a cost of Rs 140 crore.
3. The Indian Army Contingent is participating in the multinational peacekeeping Joint Exercise Ex Khaan Quest 2023 in Mongolia.
4. 1988 batch Chhattisgarh cadre IPS officer Ravi Sinha will be the new chief of Research and Analysis Wing. The Appointments Committee of Cabinet approved the appointment Mr Sinha for a period of two years.
5. Indian Naval Ship, INS KILTAN arrived at Chattogram Monday for a three day goodwill visit as part of the ongoing close cooperation between the Navies of Bangladesh and India.
6. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on two-day visit to Kochi, Kerala. He is scheduled to visit the Hydro Ships at the Southern Naval Command.
7. Indian Navy’s state-of-the-art submarine, INS ‘Vagir’, is all set to embark on an operational visit to Colombo from June 19 to June 22.
8. Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi, Northern Army Commander reviewed the ongoing preparations for the Amarnath Yatra 2023 that will commence on 01 July 2023 onwards for a duration of two months. The Amarnath Yatra takes place annually via two routes i.e. Southern route through Baltal in Ganderbal and the Northern Route through Pehalgam in Anantnag district.
9. DRDO and Indian Navy on Sunday announced that they’ve successfully demonstrated transferring of command and control capabilities of TAPAS UAV from a distant ground station to INS Subhadra. The indigenously developed unmanned aerial vehicle was controlled by the warship, situated 148 km away from Karwar naval base, for 40 minutes.
