Nehru Memorial Museum and Library Society

Nehru Memorial Museum and Library Society renamed as Prime Ministers’ Museum and Library Society. The Nehru Memorial Museum and Library Society (NMML), New Delhi has been renamed as the Prime Ministers’ Museum and Library Society. A decision in this regard was taken during a special meeting of the NMML Society presided over by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who is its Vice-President.

1. Cyclonic Storm Biparjoy over Saurashtra and Kutch moved nearly northeastwards with a speed of 13 kilometres per hour.

IMD predicts heavy to extremely heavy rainfall over Kutch, north Gujarat, south Rajasthan regions till Saturday as Cyclonic Storm Biparjoy moves northeastwards.

11. Shri Amarnathji Shrine, (J&K) Board bans over 40 food items at 62 day long annual Amarnath Yatra commencing on 1st July. Banned food items include drinks, fried and fast food items. Keeping in view the health of the devotees, board has recommended healthy options like cereals, pulses, green vegetables and salad along with a few rice dishes.

12. Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar meets G20 delegates ahead of his welcome speech at Plenary Session on 2 day of Agriculture Ministers’ meeting in Hyderabad.

13. Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao inaugurates first party office of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) in Maharashtra.

14. 9th International YogaDay to be held in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh on 21st June. Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar to attend the event as chief guest.

15. About 3,000 tourists were left stranded as Sikkim was struck by flash flooding owing to incessant rains. The Pegong area in North Sikkim was reportedly affected the most.

16. The famous Saranahuli fair was held at Parashar Lake in Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi district. Thousands of people gathered around the lake at the event, which is also known as Parashar fair.

17. University Grants Commission, UGC chief M Jagadesh Kumar has said that National Council of Educational Research and Training, NCERT is fully justified in the rationalisation of textbooks and hue and cry over it has no merit.

2. The Sessions Court permitted enforcement directorate to directly take custody of Senthil Balaji, who has been arrested by the Enforcement Directorate for eight days. The Court has allowed the authorities to inquire Balaji either directly or through video in the hospital. He is admitted in the Kaveri Hospital presently.

1. Actor Salman Khan, speaking about hosting the second season of ‘Bigg Boss OTT’, said, “Actually, Karan (Johar) and Farah (Khan) were not available, that’s why I had to do [it].” The first season of the show was hosted by Karan. Salman further said he will make sure nothing on the show is against Indian culture.

Actress Sunny Leone, who participated in ‘Bigg Boss 5’, will grace ‘Bigg Boss OTT 2’. Speaking about her appearance, she said, “Coming on Bigg Boss OTT will be like a homecoming for me.”

2. A 16-year-old dancer from Maharashtra has broken the Guinness World Record for the longest dance marathon by an individual. Srushti Sudhir Jagtap danced for five days (127 hours) straight, surpassing the previous record of 126 hours set by Nepalese dancer Bandana Nepal in 2018. Srushti was granted a five-minute rest break for every continuous hour of activity.

3. Glenda Jackson, a two-time Academy Award-winning English actress who also went into politics, passed away aged 87 on Thursday. She died at her home in London after a short illness.

4. Writer Arundhati Roy has been awarded the 45th European Essay Prize for lifetime achievement, the Charles Veillon Foundation has announced. She has been honoured for the French translation of her compilation of essays titled ‘Azadi’ (2021).

1. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has sent one team to Jalore in Rajasthan as the cyclone has now moved inland towards South Rajasthan and the region is expected to witness rains.

2. Indian Navy has launched the “Julley Ladakh” outreach programme in Ladakh, aimed at increasing awareness about the service and engaging with the local youth and civil society. A highlight of this initiative is a 5000km Motorcycle Expedition.

3. The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has recently signed a significant contract with ICOMM Tele for the procurement of Radio Relay Communication equipment containers.

This procurement aims to address the mobile communication detachment requirements of the Indian Army while promoting indigenous manufacturing and self-reliance.

(a) Under the contract, a total of 1,035 numbers of 5/7.5 Ton Radio Relay Communication equipment containers will be procured.

(b) The containers will be mounted on authorized specialist vehicles, enabling their efficient movement as per operational requirements

(c) The approximate value of the contract stands at ₹500 crore.

(d) The scheduled delivery of the containers is set to commence from the current Financial Year 2023-24.

4. Deputy Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit on Thursday visited Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) Tejas Division to assess the progress of indigenous combat aircraft projects. He flew the Series Production Trainer-01 of Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas during his visit.
