- The Meeting of Agricultural Chief Scientists (MACS) in G20 will be held from 17th to 19th April in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.
- The main theme is to promote joint action and science-based solutions for sustainable, resilient, and profitable agri-food systems.
- It will also open a platform for discussion, deliberations, and exchange of knowledge, which will indefinitely contribute to the research and growth of agri- based foods.
- It is a great way to strengthen the cooperation between G20 members, especially during the world economical crisis and the Russia-Ukraine war.
- The theme of the meeting is “Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems for Healthy People and Planet”.
- The meeting will focus on four key areas:
- Food Security and Nutrition
- Building resilience and sustainable agriculture through climate resilience and the One Health approach
- Digitalization for Agricultural Transformation
- Public-Private Partnerships for Research and Development
- This session will end after featuring the MAHARISHI Initiative (Millets And OtHer Ancient Grains International Research Initiative).
- It will provide new windows for collaboration in the field of agriculture
