Actor Gaurav Singh says that while TV is more reliable in terms of work sustainability, OTT has more realistic projects. In a candid chat, the actor talks about the work he has done so far and the kind of projects he wants to take up in the future.

“TV seems more like a 9 to 5 job to me with very less scope of versatility and creativity for an actor. Whereas OTT has a more realistic approach. I am looking out for work that is more challenging and different from my real persona,” he says.

Talking about the work he has done so far, he says, “I have done many TV shows such as Krishna Kanhaiya on SAB TV where I played the character of candy, I did Devanshi on Colors played the character of Golu in that, I did Shiksha Mandal which is on MX Player. I played the character of Rahul Somani in it. Then there are few shows I had done previously like Chidiya Ghar, Gumrah, Secret Diaries channel V. I have also done TV commercials like SBI Intouch, Tata Birla tea, and Flipkart.”

Gaurav says that competition has always been rampant in any field. “Every field is competitive now and I think mostly everyone has some form of struggle in their life. Since I enjoy acting, it has never felt like a struggle to me. Till the time an actor wants to work, there will be constant struggles because the actor has to keep looking for relevant roles,” he says.

When asked if looks help in getting work in the industry, he responds, “Definitely to a certain extent for a certain period of time and roles. This definitely is a plus point, although that is not the only criteria for getting work,” he says.

Talking about intimate scenes on OTT shows, Gaurav says that all platforms have such scenes, and they need to look natural, “Intimate scenes have always been there in movies before but it always felt natural. Now there is a trend that every other series or movie may have one. I don’t mind doing it if there is a connection with the script and it justifies the role.”

Talking about the roles he wants to do in the future, he says, “Roles which leave an impact on the audience, Something like what Rajkumar Rao did in Bareilly ki barfi or Vishal Jethwa in Mardani 2. If I get an opportunity to portray Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, that would be a dream role.”
