1. PM Modi will flag off Rajasthan’s first Vande Bharat Express train on April 12 (Wednesday) via video conferencing. The train connecting Delhi Cantt to Ajmer will cover the distance in 5 hours and 15 minutes. It will be faster by 60 minutes as compared to the Shatabdi Express running on the same route.

2. Delhi Police have filed an FIR against Jaskeerat Singh from Punjab for allegedly assaulting two crew members on Air India’s Delhi-London flight. Police said Singh hit an air hostess on neck and pulled her hair and then hit another crew member on her face. A case under IPC sections 323, 336, 354, 509 and Aircraft Rules, 1937 has been registered.

The district administration in Jharkhand’s Ranchi has imposed Section 144 of CrPC within the 200-metre radius limit of the State Secretariat in view of BJP’s protest and call for ‘Secretariat Gherao’ on Tuesday. 1. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Sunday (local time) reached Washington to attend the 2023 Spring Meetings of the World Bank Group and International Monetary Fund and other G20 meetings.She was received by Ambassador Taranjit Singh Sandhu. Sitharaman is on a week-long visit to the US.
2. The Cabinet has given its approval for the Green Energy Corridor (GEC) project, which will be implemented by the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB), to secure a loan from the German development bank, KfW.
3. Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has issued detailed norms for outsourcing of IT services by banks, NBFCs and regulated financial sector entities. According to RBI, the underlying principle of the directions is to ensure that outsourcing arrangements neither diminish Regulated Entities’ ability to fulfil its obligations to customers nor impede effective supervision by the central bank.
4. The National Stock Exchange (NSE) cautioned investors against some fraudsters running illegal ‘dabba’ trading with guaranteed returns to investors. ‘Dabba’ trading is an illegal form of trading in shares, where operators of such trading rings let people trade in equities outside the stock exchange platform.

1. The Indian Air Force’s Rafale fighter jets will be participating in a military exercise in France that involves thousands of NATO troops. The jets are expected to arrive in France in mid-April to participate in Orion 23, a large-scale war game that includes multiple dimensions, such as ground troops, warships, aircraft carriers, and combat aircraft.
2. India and Japan have been working together to strengthen their defense and security cooperation. The latest development in this regard was the 7th India-Japan Defense Policy Dialogue, which was co-chaired by the defense secretaries of both countries on April 6, 2023.
India-Japan Joint Military Exercises
India and Japan have been conducting joint military exercises since 2018. The name of this exercise is Shinyuu Maitri, which aims to enhance mutual understanding and interoperability between the two countries’ militaries.
3. For the first time, two B1 heavy bomber jets of the US Air Force will be part of an India-US mega air exercise that began on Monday amid rapidly evolving regional security scenario and China’s growing military muscle-flexing in the Indo-Pacific.
The American platforms at the exercise ‘Cope India’ that started off Kalaikunda will also include a fleet of F-15 E fighter jets, C-130 and C-17 transport aircraft.
4. Iran recently tested a homemade long-range, high-precision kamikaze drone named Meraj-532, equipped with a 50-kg warhead. It has a range of 450 km. It is capable of flying at a maximum altitude of 12,000 feet for three straight hours.
5. Seventy-one Chinese military aircraft crossed the sensitive median line of the Taiwan Strait recently as China began drills around Taiwan.
6. The INS Vikrant, India’s first indigenous aircraft carrier, was presented with a special gift in the form of its original bell from the first carrier of the same name commissioned in 1961. The bell was given by Vice Admiral SN Ghormade, who recently retired as the Vice Chief of Navy Staff, to the commanding officer of INS Vikrant on March 22.
