1. India becomes first country to develop its own system for estimating TB cases: According to WHO estimates, the TB incidence rate (per 10,000) in India in 2021 was 210. Using the Indian mathematical model, it was estimated to be 196 in 2022. The WHO estimated the TB incidence absolute number to be 29.50 lakh in 2021 while the Indian model suggested it was 27.70 lakh in 2022.

2. Vice Minister of Defense for International Affairs of Japan Oka Masami called on Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi. India shares Japan’s vision for free, open, secure and rules-based Indo-Pacific: Rajnath Singh.

3. Republic of Korea Foreign Affairs Minister Park Jin to be on a two-day visit to India. He will meet External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar at Hyderabad House, in Delhi.

4. The second G-20 Empowerment and Progression of Women’s Economic Representation EMPOWER meeting under India’s presidency of the G-20 will concluded in Thiruvananthapuram. The theme of the three-day meeting organized by the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development was ‘Women’s Empowerment’.

5. On the third day of the tenth edition of Indian Navy Sri Lankan Navy annual bilateral exercise SLINEX 2023, Sri Lanka’s state defence Minister Premitha Tennakoon visited the Indian Navy Ships

6.The Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Arindam Bagchi on Thursday condemned the vandalization of a Hindu temple in Canada’s Windsor.

1. Hindu temple has been vandalised with anti-India graffiti in Windsor in Canada’s Ontario.

2. Uyghur activists gathered near the Chinese Consulate in Istanbul on April 5 to protest against the atrocities perpetrated by China in East Turkistan on the 33rd anniversary of the Baren revolution.

3. More than 30 rockets were fired from Lebanon into Israel on Thursday. It is the biggest rocket attack on Israel from Lebanon since 2006.

4. A Texan state representative has reportedly proposed banning students from China, Russia, North Korea and Iran from higher educational institutions in the US state.

5. Pakistan needs urgent foreign loans to avoid debt crisis, World Bank warns. The World Bank in its flagship report ‘Pakistan Development Update’ warned Pakistan regarding serious dangers to its economic and debt viability.

6. World Health Day 2023: The theme calls on the world to take required actions which can help tackle health challenges today and tomorrow. World Health Day is observed every year on April 7 to draw attention to a particular health topic that affects people all over the world. It also marks the birthday of the World Health Organisation (WHO) which was founded in 1948. This year the world health body is observing its 75th anniversary.
