1. Good Friday to be celebrated today. The Friday before Easter, the day on which Christians annually observe the commemoration of the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Good Friday is a solemn day wherein people observe fasting. It is not a day of celebration but mourning and reflection for Christians. Therefore, people do not greet each other by saying “Happy Good Friday”.

2. The President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu visit to Assam from April 6 to 8, 2023.
(a) On April 7 :, the President will inaugurate the Gaj Utsav-2023 at the Kaziranga National Park.
(b) In Guwahati, she will flag off the Mount Kanchenjunga Expedition-2023.
(c) The president will also grace the function being organized to mark the completion of 75 years of the Gauhati High Court at Guwahati.
(d) On April 8, 2023, the President will make a sortie on the Sukhoi 30 MKI fighter aircraft at the Tezpur Air Force Station

2. Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar to release a postage stamp marking bicentennial of noted social reformer Swami Dayanand Saraswati’s birth at Plenary Hall, Vigyan Bhawan.

3. Indian Railways has decided to operate “Shri Ramayana Yatra” by Bharat Gaurav Deluxe AC Tourists train to promote Pilgrimage Tourism. This tour will start from Delhi Safdarjung Railway Station on 7th April 2023 and cover prominent places associated with the life of Lord Shri Rama including Ayodhya, Prayagraj & Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh.

4. Full exemption allowed on Customs Duty for all imported drugs & Food for Special Medical Purposes for personal use in treatment of all RareDiseases listed under the National Policy for Rare Diseases 2021.

5. Government on 06 April approved Indian Space Policy 2023 that seeks to institutionalise private sector participation in space sector, with ISRO focusing on research and development of advanced space technologies. The policy also delineated roles and responsibilities of ISRO, space sector PSU NewSpace India Limited (NSIL) and Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Center (IN-SPACe).

6. The Union Cabinet on Thursday approved revised domestic gas pricing guidelines, a move to ensure stable pricing in the regime and provide adequate protection to producers from adverse market fluctuation. The price of natural gas will be 10% of the monthly average of the Indian crude basket.
The guidelines will be applicable to the gas produced from nomination fields of ONGC/OIL, new exploration license policy blocks (NELP) and pre-NELP blocks. The new guidelines will come into force from Saturday.

1. Telangana BJP President Bandi Sanjay Kumar, who was detained from his residence by police after midnight on Wednesday, was granted bail in the SSC paper leak case. A magistrate court in Warangal granted bail on ₹20,000 surety.

2. Under the IT Rules amendment notified on Thursday, the Centre will appoint an agency to fact check false and misleading information related to government business on digital platforms. The amended rules make it obligatory for intermediaries (internet companies) to not publish, share or host fake, false or misleading information related to the government.

3. PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti’s daughter Iltija Mufti has been issued a passport for a limited period of two years to allow her to study abroad despite an adverse report by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), officials said on Thursday

1. Defying expert expectations, the six-member monetary policy committee headed by RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das today announced a status quo on policy rates. While announcing the first bi-monthly monetary policy statement for 2023-24, Mr. Das said the monetary policy committee has unanimously decided to keep the repo rate unchanged at 6.5%.

2. Total enrolments under various schemes of National Pension System (NPS) and Atal Pension Yojana (APY) have crossed one crore 35 lakh margin during the Financial Year 2022-23.

4. RBI has imposed a penalty of ₹6.77 crore on Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services, Mumbai for non-compliance with norms related to disclosure of interest rates to borrowers at the time of sanction of loans. A ₹55-lakh penalty was also imposed on Indian Bank for contravention of certain ‘Know Your Customer’ norms. A ₹10.50-lakh fine was imposed on Muthoot Money, Ernakulam.

5. The Union Cabinet on Thursday approved a revision in the formula for the pricing of natural gas and imposed a price cap to slash CNG and piped cooking gas prices by up to 10%. APM gas, natural gas produced from old fields, will be priced at 10% of the price of a basket of crude oil that India imports.

1. CENTRE EXTENDS EMERGENCY POWERS OF DEFENCE FORCES BY 6 MONTHS TO TACKLE CHINA : The defence forces have been given another six months to complete their pending acquisitions to buy weapons for the China border to further strengthen the preparedness of the forces.

2. ANTI-SUBMARINE ROCKET DEVELOPED BY ARDE WITH EXTENDED RANGE OF 8.5 KM TEST FIRED SUCCESSFULLY FROM INS CHENNAI: The Armament Research And Development Establishment (ARDE) in association with the High Energy Materials Research Laboratory (HEMRL) has successfully developed an Extended Range Anti-Submarine Rocket (ER-ASR) to enhance the range of existing RGB-60 Anti Submarine Rocket from 5.3 km to 8.0+ kms.

3. India said on Thursday that the legal process for eight former Indian Navy personnel, who have been held in solitary confinement in Qatar on unspecified charges since last August, has started.The eight men were working at Dahra Global Technologies and Consultancy Services, a private company owned by an ex-Oman Air Force officer.

4. Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Manoj Pande on Thursday received a Guard of Honour at the Australian Defence Forces (ADF) headquarters. He met Australia’s Chief of the Defence Force Angus Campbell.

5. The Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) has approached the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS), chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, for approval of twin-engine advanced medium combat aircraft (AMCA).

6. Germany is soon expected to present a proposal to India for the sale of advanced conventional submarines through the government-to- government route. The Navy, which is staring at a dwindling sub-surface fleet, is looking to procure six advanced diesel-electric submarines under Project-75I estimated to cost over ₹45,000 crore.
