📜 When did Jammu and Kashmir sign the Instrument of Accession to India?
Answer: 26 October 1947
Maharaja Hari Singh signed the Instrument of Accession as tribal raiders backed by Pakistan advanced towards Srinagar. Governor-General Lord Mountbatten accepted it on 27 October 1947, and Indian Army troops were airlifted to Srinagar the same day — a day now observed as Infantry Day.
