1. India women beat Zimbabwe by nine wickets in the second T20I in Raipur to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. Chasing 103, India won in 8.5 overs, with Shafali Verma hitting 55 off 25 balls and Smriti Mandhana 47 not out.
2. The fifth Asian Para Games opened in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, and will run till 24 October across 18 sports. India has sent a 281-member contingent, including 168 athletes, aiming to better its record 111 medals from Hangzhou 2023.

5. In the Ranji Trophy, Gurjapneet Singh (4/34) and captain R. Sai Kishore (4/40) bowled Uttarakhand out for 134 in Chennai; Tamil Nadu were 85/2 at stumps on day one.
6. Tokyo Paralympics silver medallist Bhavina Patel began her Asian Para Games campaign by beating Kuwait’s Ahad Alrasheedi 11-6, 11-3, 11-6 in a women’s singles Class 4–5 para table tennis group match. Baby Sahana Ravi, Shubham Wadhwa and Jehan Madan also won their group matches.
