1. Athletes from the Army Sports Institute (ASI), Pune, won 12 medals at the Asian Games, accounting for 60 per cent of the 20 medals won by Indian Army athletes. A total of 25 ASI athletes were part of the Indian contingent.
2. Tripura State Government has allotted 30.30 acres of land to the Tripura Cricket Association (TCA) for setting up a cricket academy in the state. The TCA has been asked to deposit 6 crore 81 lakh 75 thousand rupees with the Revenue Department towards the cost of the land.
3. Asian Games gold medal-winning Indian hockey team receives warm welcome in Amritsar yesterday.
4. India’s women’s cricket captain Harmanpreet Kaur has stepped down as captain across all three formats. The 37-year-old announced her decision after a BCCI review meeting in Guwahati. Harmanpreet led India to its maiden ODI World Cup title last year and also guided the team to gold at the Asian Games. She captained India in five Tests, 51 ODIs and 155 T20Is, having led the T20 side since 2016 and taken charge of the ODI team in 2022.
