1. The People’s Plan Campaign (PPC) 2026-27, with the theme “Sabki Yojana, Sabka Vikas”, will begin across India on October 2, 2026. The campaign will start the process for Gram Panchayats to prepare Gram Panchayat Development Plans (GPDPs) for the financial year 2027-28.

2. The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly was adjourned sine die, bringing the ten-day autumn session to a close. The session which began on 21st of September, witnessed seven sittings, with the House conducting business for around 25 hours.

8.. The Election Commission has extended the schedule for the Special Intensive Revision, or SIR, of electoral rolls in Andhra Pradesh and Meghalaya. In Andhra Pradesh, the notice phase and disposal of claims and objections will continue until 10th of October, while the final electoral rolls will be published on 16th October.

The Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has made an announcement about awarding the Vishisht Gujarat Garima Award to the captain of Flydubai Captain Smit Machchhar for his heroic deed during a mid-air emergency situation on a flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv. Despite the fact that Smit Machchhar has been severely injured during this incident, he helped the plane land safely. As the Gujarat government states, this award acknowledges his bravery and dedication. It was reported that the government has offered him a reward of ₹25 lakh.

1. A Special PMLA Court in Ranchi has framed charges under Section 3 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act against Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren in an alleged money-laundering case linked to 8.86 acres of land in the Bargain area. Mr. Soren appeared before the court through video conference. With the framing of charges, the trial proceedings will now move forward, with the Special Court scheduling further hearings from November.

2. National Investigation Agency NIA arrested four individuals in connection with their relation with terrorist organisation Jama’at Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB). The agency today conducted raids in many places in West Bengal, including Purba Bardhaman, South 24 Parganas and South Dinajpur districts.

3. The West Bengal Government has formed a five-member Special Investigation Team (SIT), to probe the September 27 incident at the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, SRFTI, in Kolkata.

4. A Mumbai NIA court granted bail to former police officer Sachin Waze in the 2021 Antilia bomb scare and Mansukh Hiran murder case.

1. At least three persons, including Additional Director General of PIB regional office in Imphal, Dr Engam Pame, Aizawl Doordarshan Director (News) Nampibou Marinmai, and MTS, CBC, Aizawl H Lianwala lost their lives and another was seriously injured after the car they were travelling in fell into a gorge near Sialsuk.

2. Eight students drowned at Diveagar beach in Raigad district of Maharashtra yesterday. Police said all eight bodies have been recovered. The students were part of a group of 42 students from a private coaching class in Alandi, Pune district. Some of the students were studying in Class 11, while others were in Class 12.

1. The Ministry of Defence has issued a Request for Information (RFI) to procure 1,547 Thermal Imaging (TI) Night Sights along with accessories for the Indian Army’s 7.62mm Medium Machine Guns (MMGs).

2. Sagar Defence Engineering Ltd has secured a government industrial licence to manufacture surface and underwater vessels for military use, widening the Maharashtra-based deep-tech company’s role in India’s naval defence industry.

3. The US F-35A is participating for the first time in Exercise Tarang Shakti 2026 at Jodhpur. The multinational exercise is continuing until 12 October and focuses on joint training and interoperability.

4. ⚓ Indian Naval Ship Tarkash arrived at Mombasa, Kenya, for a goodwill port call, according to the Ministry of Defence.

INS Trishul is participating in the 24th India–France bilateral maritime exercise Varuna, strengthening cooperation between the two navies.

6. A village coordination meeting and civic action programme was organised by the Border Security Force’s 121 Battalion at Jaipur High School in Rishyamukh block yesterday.

7. India’s indigenous combat aircraft efforts have received a significant boost after Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh confirmed that four GE F404 engines for the TEJAS MK-1A will be delivered between October 2026 and December 2026.

The Ministry of External Affairs has again advised Indian nationals not to join the Russian armed forces, warning of serious risks and urging caution over unverified overseas employment offers.
