Amritpal Singh on the run, manhunt launched to nab him: Punjab Police. A total of 78 persons have been arrested and several detained so far in connection with the crackdown launched against the chief of suspected pro-Khalistan outfit ‘Waris Punjab De’, Amritpal Singh and his aides, Punjab Police said on Saturday, adding that the Khalistan sympathiser is still on the run.

14. Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said the state will be the first to provide a subsidy of ₹50 lakh to private operators to buy electric buses. He said the state will provide a ₹10 lakh subsidy to the private operators on the purchase of electric taxis. He announced ₹50 lakh subsidy on the purchase of electric trucks.
15. Congress leader Siddaramaiah on Saturday said the party’s first list of candidates for the upcoming Assembly polls, which is likely by May, will be announced on March 22, the day of Ugadi festival.
CRIME /MISHAP REPORT
1. Waris Punjab De chief Amritpal Singh’s father on Saturday said that Punjab Police has asked the family to tell Amritpal to surrender. “We don’t know where Amritpal…is. We’re concerned… something may happen to him,” he said. Notably, police have said that a massive manhunt has been launched to arrest Amritpal, adding that 78 people linked to his outfit have been arrested.
2. Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu called the leak of Geography question paper circulated on social media fake and CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said that it was an “attempt to disrupt the entire atmosphere”. Pegu claimed that the 2021 question paper was edited and circulated causing confusion. Sarma added that Assam Police will investigate the matter and take appropriate action.
3. Finance Ministry on Saturday said that GST officials in Delhi have unearthed a fake invoicing racket after conducting inspection at the registered premises of three bogus companies. “Preliminary enquiry conducted so far into the transactions of these firms has revealed tax evasion of ₹17 crore approximately,” an official statement said. Two persons have been arrested in connection with the case.
4. Former Asansol mayor and BJP leader Jitendra Tiwari has been arrested from Yamuna Expressway in Uttar Pradesh by Asansol Durgapur Commissionerate in connection with a stampede. The incident happened during a blanket distribution program on December 14, 2022, in Asansol.
5. The probe into the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) question paper leak reportedly stumbled upon shocking evidence that as many as 15 competitive examination papers were allegedly leaked by Pulidindi Praveen Kumar, the prime accused working in the Commission.
6. At least 35 people were injured after a bus carrying 65 passengers overturned and fell into a ditch in Uttar Pradesh’s Farrukhabad on Saturday. The passengers were pilgrims on their way to Kannauj after a trip to Rishikesh and Haridwar.
7. A trainer aircraft crashed in a forest area in Madhya Pradesh’s Balaghat district on Saturday. Both the pilots (instructor and trainee) have died in the crase. The reason behind the crash is not known yet.

4. Reserve Bank of India on Friday said it has imposed a penalty of Rs 5 lakh on Housing Development Finance Corporation Limited (HDFC) for non-compliance with certain provisions issued by the National Housing Bank (NHB).

1. Royal Navy warship HMS Tamar arrived in Chennai on Friday on a 13-day visit. The Royal Navy and the Indian Navy will engage in a variety of activities including professional and social interactions and sports fixtures. The British ship will leave on March 29. The ship recently participated in multilateral naval exercise “La Pérouse” in the Indian Ocean region.
2. Last tributes were paid with full military honours to Lt Col VVB Reddy and Major Jayanth A of Army Aviation, who lost their lives in the line of duty on 16 March, in the Arunachal Army chopper crash in West Kameng district while on an operational sortie in Tezpur, Assam.
3. Retired Army officers, many from the Army Aviation Corps (AAC), have demanded that the Ministry of Defence come clean on the schedule of delivery of Light Utility Helicopters (LUH) to replace the ageing fleet of Cheetahs, Cheetals and Chetaks. This demand was raised after Thursday’s crash of a Cheetah near Bomdila in Arunachal Pradesh.
4. An encounter broke out between terrorists and security forces in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday. So far, there were no reports of any casualty on either side.
