India’s Prachi Choudhary won bronze in the women’s 400m final on Saturday, clinching India’s 30th overall medal at the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi Nagoya.
Iran’s Zahra Manoujan took silver in 52.38 seconds after a strong finish, while Bahrain’s Salwa Eid Naser was in a class of her own, storming to gold in 49.20 seconds.
The 29-year-old Indian runner held off competition from South Korea’s Kim Seoyoon, who finished 0.17s behind her eventually.
Prachi’s timing of 53.21s was well off from her season best of 52.57s, which she recorded in August 2026 at the World Athletics Continental Tour Silver meet in Bhubaneswar. Her 400m personal best is 52.40 seconds, recorded in 2023
This bronze adds to Prachi’s silver in the women’s 4x400m relay in the Hangzhou Asian Games in 2023.
The other Indian in the fray, Kiran Pahal, finished fifth with a time of 53.41s.
