The Indian women’s team overcame a tough fight from Iran, registering a thrilling 36-31 victory in the final to win the gold medal at the Asian Games on Saturday.
This is India’s third gold medal of the 2026 Asian Games.
India made a promising start and went into the half-time interval leading 22-16.
However, Iran produced a brilliant turnaround in the second half and at one stage reduced the deficit to 26-27 with eight minutes remaining in the match. India then recovered strongly and didn’t allow their opponent┬аany room to exploit.
