seven states selected to get new textile parks

Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, among 7 States to get textile parks
Centre expects the parks to attract investments worth ₹70,000 crore, generate jobs for 20 lakh people and create an integrated value chain for the sector, says Textiles Minister Piyush Goyal.

9. The first Bharat Gaurav special tourist train will commence its journey from Secunderabad railway station on March 18. The Bharat Gaurav train service will be launched by the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC). It is an eight nights and nine days tour from March 18 to 26 will cover important spiritual destinations such as Puri, Konark, Gaya, Varanasi, Ayodhya and Prayagraj.

10. Rajasthan will now have 19 new districts and 3 new divisions, it was announced on Friday, taking the number of districts to 50 and divisions to 10.

11. Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya flagged off 75 trucks yesterday with TB awareness messages across the country at the Partnership for Action against Tuberculosis (PAcT) event in New Delhi.

CRIME REPORT

1. National Investigation Agency (NIA) filed two chargesheets against 68 leaders, members and cadres of banned Popular Front of India (PFI) in two separate cases in Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

According to the chargesheets, they were fundraising for terror activities and to establish Islamic rule in India by 2047.

2. Supreme Court will hear pleas of the Gujarat government and bail pleas of the convicts serving life imprisonment in the 2002 Godhra train burning case on March 24.

3. Jammu and Kashmir, Director General of Police Dilbag Singh called for more efforts from field officers to track the culprits involved in the January 01 Dhangri terror attack in which seven people were killed and 14 were injured.

1. Reserve Bank Governor Shaktikanta Das has received the ‘Governor of the Year’ 2023 Award by the international publication Central Banking.

2. PM Narendra Modi on Friday announced an ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh for the families of those killed in a fire in Telangana’s Secunderabad and a roof collapse in UP’s Chandausi.

Fourteen people were killed after the roof of a potato cold storage collapsed in Chandausi on Thursday. In Secunderabad, six people died in a massive fire at a shopping complex.

1. Akshay Kumar’s ‘OMG 2’ will reportedly release on an OTT platform. The film, directed by Amit Rai, also stars Yami Gautam and Pankaj Tripathi. Akshay’s ‘Selfiee’, ‘Bachchhan Paandey’, ‘Ram Setu’ and ‘Samrat Prithviraj’ failed to perform at the box office.

2. Actor Ram Charan in a recent interview said that he would like to play the role of Virat Kohli if a film based on the life of the former team India captain is made.

3. Union Home Minister Amit Shah met actor Chiranjeevi and his son, actor Ram Charan in Delhi. The Home Minister congratulated them after ‘Naatu Naatu’ song from the film ‘RRR’,won the Best Original Song Oscar.

1. Defence acquisition proposals valued at ₹70,500 crores were cleared by Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) under Buy {Indian-IDDM (Indigenously Designed, Developed and Manufactured)}.

The DAC has given the green light to the Indian Army’s proposal to buy 307 Advanced Towed Artillery Gun Systems (ATAGS).

2. BrahMos Aerospace is set to begin delivering supersonic cruise missiles to the Philippines by the end of 2023 as part of a deal signed last year.

3. Government has approved an initiative to open new Sainik schools across the country.

4. Union Home Ministry has announced a 10 percent reservation for former Agniveers in the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).

5. Poland recently announced the delivery of four MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine, making it the first North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) country to do so.

6. The delivery of the INS Chakra-3 nuclear powered attack submarine leased from Russia, might get delayed beyond the 2026 deadline.The cause for the postponement remains unclear.

7. Africa Chiefs Conclave
22 Army Chiefs, representatives to participate in first-ever India-Africa Chiefs Conclave.

INDIA is set to hold the first-ever India-Africa Army Chiefs Conclave on March 28, and a nine-day military exercise with African militaries from March 21, in Pune, furthering India’s outreach to African nations amid China’s growing influence in the continent.
