1. India won four medals at the Asian Games 2026 held at Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, on 23 September. The four medals for India included one silver medal won by Mirabai Chanu in women’s 49 kg weightlifting category and three bronze medals in women’s skeet team, men’s soft tennis, and men’s team badminton.
In addition, medals were also won by India in men’s kabaddi and continued its success in hockey and wushu. India has thus won a total of 11 medals – two gold, five silver, and four bronze.
2. Mirabai Chanu made a breakthrough by earning her first Asian Games medal with a silver in the women’s 49kg category weightlifting competition during the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games. The 32-year-old Indian woman lifted 198kg in total, with 87kg in snatch and 111kg in clean and jerk. The gold medal was taken by the North Korean athlete Ri Song Gum, and bronze by the Indonesian Wijayana Luluk Diani Tri who scored 191kg.
