Mumbai, India: Following its showcase at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) and the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Goa, the Indo-Swiss magical romance Tara & Akash: Love Beyond Realms is set to premiere exclusively on JioHotstar on September 17, 2026. Directed by debut filmmaker Srinivas Abrol, the film blends romance and magical realism with a journey of love and self-discovery, unfolding across the picturesque landscapes of Switzerland and India.
Selected under Film Bazaar 2023тАЩs Viewing Room and Debut Director Co-Production Programme, the film follows Tara, a young woman who sets off on a solo journey to Switzerland, inspired by a romance novel she holds close to her heart. Away from the world she knows, she encounters Akash, a mysterious being from another realm. Their connection unfolds into a story that explores love beyond the boundaries of time, space and destiny.
Shot across locations including Lauterbrunnen, Montreux and Vevey in Switzerland, as well as Shimla in India, the film stars Alankrita Bora as Tara and Jitesh Thakur as Akash. The ensemble also features Amol Palekar, Deepti Naval and Brijendra Kala in key roles.
Speaking about the film, director Srinivas Abrol said, тАЬThe story of the film is quite different. It is not exactly a mainstream love story. There is magical realism, there is a quest and there are a lot of interesting elements that come together. It has been a one-of-its-kind cinematic experiment for us.тАЭ

Jitesh Thakur, who plays Akash, said, тАЬAkash is a very unusual character, and playing him was a completely different experience for me.
