Renowned actor, director and filmmaker Prasad Oak has been honoured with the prestigious K. V. Shantaram Vishesh Yogdan Puraskar 2026 (Special Contribution Award) at the 62nd Maharashtra State Marathi Film Awards Presentation Ceremony.
The award recognises Prasad Oak’s exceptional contribution to Marathi cinema and his remarkable journey as an artist who has consistently explored diverse facets of filmmaking. Over the years, Oak has established himself as a versatile performer while also making a significant mark as a director and creative force within the Marathi film industry.
From powerful performances to his work behind the camera, Prasad Oak has continually contributed to the growth and evolution of Marathi cinema. His dedication to meaningful storytelling, distinctive artistic vision and commitment to the Marathi film fraternity have earned him widespread appreciation from audiences and industry peers alike.
Speaking on the occasion, Prasad Oak expressed his gratitude and dedicated the honour to the directors who have shaped his journey. He said:
“Receiving this Special Contribution Award in the 125th birth anniversary year of Shankarrao Bapu, as I stand on the threshold of my 125th film, is a deeply emotional and humbling moment. I dedicate this honour to all the directors who have given me opportunities throughout my journey, from my first director Arun Surve to Pravin Tarde and Ananth Mahadevan. I am deeply grateful to the Maharashtra Government’s Cultural Affairs Department for considering me worthy of this honour. The award brings with it a great responsibility, and I pray for the strength to live up to it with the blessings of Maharashtra and Bappa.”
