1. President Smt Droupadi Murmu has greeted teachers across the country on the eve of Teachers’ Day. In her message, the President said that Teachers’ Day is observed to mark the birth anniversary of former President Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan who was a great author and philosopher.

2. National Teachers Awards — President Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to confer the National Teachers Awards on 48 educators at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, today.

3. Pime Minister Narendra Modi has commended the successful launch of GSLV-F17 carrying EOS-05, India’s first-ever imaging satellite from Geosynchronous orbit. The Indian Space Research Organisation has successfully launched the EOS-05 Earth observation satellite aboard the GSLV-F17 rocket from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh early yesterday morning.

4. Andhrapradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will meet leaders of employee and teacher unions today to discuss their long-pending demands, including constitution of the Pay Revision Commission (PRC) and payment of pending dues.

5. Around 85,000 Punjab government employees recruited after July 17, 2020, are set to benefit from a major revision in their dearness allowance (DA), with the state government preparing to raise it from the existing 42 per cent to 60 per cent.

6. Cauvery/Mekedatu issue: Tamil Nadu farmers are preparing a five-day campaign against Karnataka’s proposed Mekedatu dam project.

7. Apollyon Dynamics, a defence technology startup incubated at BITS Pilani Hyderabad Campus, entered the India Book of Records on 1 September 2026 for developing India’s fastest multirotor unmanned aerial vehicle. Its electric interceptor drone, Ahuti Mk II, recorded a certified top speed of 498 km/h, which exceeded the earlier Indian multirotor benchmark of 325 km/h.

8. The flood situation in Bihar remains grim as all major rivers, including the Ganga, Punpun, Gandak, Burhi Gandak, Son and Kosi, are in spate. Sixteen districts, including Patna, Bhojpur, Bhagalpur and West Champaran, across north, central and south Bihar are affected by floods.

9. Heavy rain disrupts transport — Heavy rainfall has disrupted train services in Mizoram, with railway authorities carrying out repairs to restore operations.

10. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall in East Rajasthan and West Madhya Pradesh.

1. The Supreme Court has directed seven states to raise retirement age of judicial officers from 60 to 62 years. A Bench comprising Chief Justice of India Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi and Justice V Mohana, directed Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal state to amend their respective service rules to formally enhance the retirement age to 62 years.

2. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted a nationwide crackdown in three major cases of Digital Arrest, and detained three people under operation Chakra-VI. Taking strong action against the menace of digital arrest with its ever-rising cases across the country, the Investigation Agency coordinated searches in 89 locations across 20 states in the country.

3. Hindutva influencer Swatantra Bhardwaj was detained from Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh on Friday, hours after Delhi Police assured CJP protesters that he would be arrested within 72 hours for allegedly assaulting the father of a student in July, officials said.

1. A bus driver died and several passengers were injured after a speeding RTC bus hit a divider and overturned near Kamareddy, Telangana.

2. Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra: Fire broke out in the NICU of a private hospital. Nine newborns and around 50 other patients were safely evacuated, with no reported casualties.

3. Eight people, believed to be students from neighbouring Tamil Nadu, have been killed in a tragic road accident in central Keralam’s Thrissur district, police said on Saturday.

1. In Jammu and Kashmir, security forces Yesterday killed one terrorist in an encounter in the Ashdar Gali area of Budgam district.

2. ✈️ India–Japan ‘VEER GUARDIAN 26’ air exercise
The Indian Air Force and Japan Air Self-Defense Force will conduct Veer Guardian 26 at Jodhpur from 11–22 September. Japan’s F-2A fighter aircraft will participate at Jodhpur for the first time, strengthening air-combat interoperability.

3. DRDO has formally invited bids under its Technology Development Fund (TDF) for the creation of an indigenous Air-to-Air Refuelling Pod (AARP), a project that will allow India to reduce reliance on foreign suppliers and strengthen aerial refuelling capabilities.The tender was published on 2 September 2026, with submissions open until 20 October 2026.

4. Kalyani Strategic Systems Ltd (KSSL), the defence subsidiary of Bharat Forge, has entered into a memorandum of understanding with Belgian defence company FN Herstal to explore cooperation in local manufacturing and technology for small arms, integrated weapon systems and counter-uncrewed aerial system capabilities in India.The agreement was signed on 3 September 2026.

5. 🪖 India–China military talks likely soon
India and China are expected to hold Corps Commander-level talks following recent discussions between NSA Ajit Doval and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. The talks are aimed at managing tensions along the LAC in Arunachal Pradesh.

6. IAF to conduct major western-sector air activity: India’s planned 17-day IAF air activity in western Rajasthan has prompted heightened vigilance in Pakistan. The exercises highlight India’s continuing focus on operational preparedness in the western sector.
