1. The city of Lord Krishna Mathura Vrindavan, is decked up for the grand celebration today on the occasion of Janmashtami. Over 5 lakh devotees expected to visit the city. The President, Smt Droupadi Murmu has extended greetings to the citizens on the eve of Janmashtami.

2. The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully launched the GSLV-F17 carrying the EOS-05 Earth observation satellite on 4 September 2026, at 2:55 AM IST. Lifting off from the Second Launch Pad in Sriharikota, the 19th GSLV flight placed India’s first geosynchronous-orbit imaging satellite into a sub-GTO.

3. Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today chaired a high-level meeting in Mumbai to review Self-Help Group-bank linkages and individual enterprise financing under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM). Addressing the meeting, Union Minister Mr. Chouhan said women’s empowerment was a fundamental prerequisite for building a developed India. He said that the Prime Minister had reiterated the commitment to increase the number of Lakhpati Didi from three crore to six crore.

4. Two-day Drass Festival to begin tomorrow in Ladakh: In Ladakh, the upcoming two-day Drass Festival, scheduled for September 4 and 5, will provide a major platform to showcase the tourism, cultural and adventure potential of Drass, recently announced as a new district.

5. To identify unidentified and unclaimed deceased persons kept in government mortuaries across the state, Punjab has launched a digital public identification portal, “Pehchaan”.

6. In Maharashtra, a new daily express train between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) in Mumbai and Sawantwadi Road in the Sindhudurg district of Konkan was inaugurated yesterday.

7. Bihar has been witnessing a continuous rise in the water level of the Ganga in Patna and several other districts. This has increased the threat of floods in new areas.

8. Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal lauded the small and medium enterprises industries for playing a pivotal role in achieving 7.8 percent GDP growth in the first quarter of the current fiscal year.

9. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Ajit Pawar has directed officials to immediately place a proposal before the state Cabinet to introduce a soft loan scheme for cooperative sugar mills in Maharashtra. The scheme, on the lines of the Centre’s initiative, aims to help sugar mills prepare for the upcoming crushing season and ensure timely payment of Fair and Remunerative Price (FRP) dues to farmers.

10. The National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), and Intel India launched the Agentic AI Skilling Programmes on 3 September 2026. The initiative is linked to training youth across India in artificial intelligence skills for work with systems that can reason, plan and execute tasks.

11. The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority facilitated the export of NPOP-certified ethnic organic rice from Tripura to Austria and the Netherlands. The consignment was flagged off in Agartala and marked Tripura’s first organic agricultural shipment to the European market.

12. The two-day international conference on Voter Registration and Voter Registers 2026, organised jointly by the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Jharkhand, and Central University of Jharkhand, concluded yesterday at NUSRL in Ranchi.

1. Amid an ongoing controversy over the voter registration status of BJP MP Raghav Chadha, Vice President and Raajya Sabha Chairman CP Radhakrishnan on Thursday nominated him to a key parliamentary panel that he himself chairs.

2. The Andhra Pradesh govt on Thursday revoked the suspension of senior IPS officers Kanthi Rana Tata and Vishal Gunni, who were suspended in connection with the Kadambari Jethwani case, and ordered their immediate reinstatement.

3. In Keralam, former Devaswom Board President P.S. Prasanth, the 17th accused in the Sabarimala gold misappropriation case, has been granted bail. The Kollam Vigilance Court granted bail on health grounds after his earlier bail application was rejected.

4. Tamil Nadu Assembly unanimously adopted a resolution urging the Union Government to take immediate and necessary action to facilitate the use of Tamil as the principal language of the Madras High Court.

5. The Bombay High Court has ordered a CBI probe into the death of Disha Salian, former manager of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. Disha Salian died on June 8, 2020, after falling from the 14th floor of a residential building in the Mumbai suburbs.

6. Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy removed Konda Surekha, the State Minister for Environment, Forests and Endowments, from the Council of Ministers with immediate effect on 3 September 2026. The same day, the Chief Minister also withdrew the appointment of G. Chinna Reddy as Vice Chairman of the Telangana State Planning Board and approved new appointments in the state administration.

Gaurang Vyas, one of the prominent names in Gujarati music, has passed away in Ahmedabad at the age of 87. The veteran composer, arranger and singer worked across Gujarati cinema, folk music and light music for several decades.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief following Gaurang Vyas’ death. He shared a photograph with the musician on X and recalled his contribution to Gujarati music.

1. India’s Kalyani Strategic Systems, a Bharat Forge defence unit, and France’s Thales have agreed to establish an Indian manufacturing capability for 70-mm rocket systems. The first fully assembled rocket made in India is expected by early 2027.

2. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has unveiled RAKSHA, a strategic blueprint for India’s defence diplomacy over the next 10 years, aimed at strengthening global military partnerships and India’s role in international security.

3. Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has offered 416.18 acres in Mahabubnagar district for a DRDL project. He also invited Rajnath Singh to inaugurate Raksha Expo 2026 in Hyderabad.

4. Hyderabad-based defence start-up Apollyon Dynamics has set a new benchmark in drone warfare with its Ahuti MK-II, an electric multi-rotor interceptor that achieved a certified speed of 498 km/h, earning recognition in the India Book of Records as the fastest multi-rotor UAV in India.

5. The Indian Air Force has achieved a significant breakthrough in indigenous precision-strike capability with the successful drop trial of the Long Range Glide Bomb Khagantak-243. The trial was conducted on Wednesday and marks a major milestone for both the IAF and the Indian defence industry.

6. Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth has announced that the Government has set an ambitious target of ₹3,00,000 crore in annual defence production and ₹50,000 crore in defence exports by 2029. He made this statement while addressing the second Annual Trident Lecture of the Centre for Joint Warfare Studies (CENJOWS) in New Delhi.

7. 1995-batch Haryana cadre IPS officer Sandeep Khirwar was on Thursday appointed Special Director General (DG) of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

8. In Jammu and Kashmir, security forces recovered a cache of arms and ammunition during a joint search operation in Reasi district. The search operation was conducted by 58 Rashtriya Rifles and SOG at Khataji village in Mahore tehsil of Reasi district. The recovery marks a significant success for the security forces in their ongoing efforts to detect and neutralise hidden arms caches and disrupt attempts to facilitate militant activities in the region.

2. The biographical film GDN, starring R. Madhavan as the legendary inventor and industrialist G. D. Naidu, begins streaming on Netflix today, September 4, 2026. The movie is available in Tamil along with dubbed versions in Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada.

3. Yash’s Toxic gets its English theatrical release today across India. The makers have confirmed that the English version will use a shorter cut than the original.

4. West Bengal celebrated the birth centenary of legendary Bengali actor Uttam Kumar yesterday. The government of West Bengal celebrating the occasion with orgnizing various programmes. Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari will participate in a bhumi pujan event of the Uttam Kumar Film Centre at New Town, Kolkata today. Known as Mahanayak, Uttam Kumar acted in more than 200 films. He was born on 3rd September 1926 in Kolkata.
