Milad-un-Nabi, also known as Eid-e-Milad, is being observed in India today. It commemorates the birth of Prophet Muhammad. It is observed by many Muslims on 12 Rabi’ al-Awwal, the third month of the Islamic calendar.
2. The Government of Puducherry introduced the Puducherry Business Reforms Bill, 2026, aimed at making the Union Territory a simpler, faster and more investment-friendly destination for businesses and entrepreneurs.

5.Malnutrition rate declines to 36% over past three years: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has said stunting among children under five in the state has declined from 46 per cent to around 36 per cent over the past three years. Addressing the ongoing Autumn session of the state Legislative Assembly, Mr Sangma said the overall malnutrition rate has also come down to 36 per cent.
6. Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar has said, Booth Level Officers are the foundation of India’s democracy. The CEC, who is on a two day visit to Uttar Pradesh, attended an interaction programme with around 500 Booth Level Officers in Lucknow.

1. Justice Sunil Balkrishna Shukre, former Judge of the Bombay High Court, was sworn in as the new Chairman of the Maharashtra Lokayukta Institution.
2. The Supreme Court directed former Tehelka Magazine Chief Editor Tarun Tejpal to surrender within three weeks and file a surrender certificate before 22nd September, for the Court to hear his appeal on merits. Tejpal has challenged the Bombay High Court’s order convicting and sentencing him to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment in the 2013 rape case.
3. The Central Government has empowered the West Bengal government to conduct hearings under the Citizenship Amendment Act, or CAA, and issue citizenship certificates to eligible applicants.
4. Security forces have recovered a large quantity of arms, ammunition and explosives from a Maoist dump in the Bhejji police station area of Sukma district in Chhattisgarh. Based on information provided by surrendered Maoists, a joint search operation was conducted.
5. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted searches at five locations across five states in the Cyber Terrorism Gujarat Case. The agency conducted searches in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Telangana, Bihar and Delhi yesterday. The case in this regard was registered in Gujarat last year.

7. The Allahabad High Court dismissed a Class XI student’s plea to wear a hijab at school, ruling it is not an essential religious practice and upholding the school’s uniform policy. The bench also found that the petitioner had not produced sufficient factual or legal material to establish that wearing a headscarf is an essential religious practice in Islam.

DEFENCE News

1. The West Bengal government is set to form a new disaster-response force called the “Arjun Bahini” by recruiting the Agniveers to deal with emergencies.
2. The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research-National Aerospace Laboratories (CSIR-NAL) yesterday unveiled three indigenous micro and small gas turbine engines in New Delhi. The three engines are NJ-05, with a thrust of 5 kg; NJ-50, with a thrust of 50 kg; and NJ-100, with a thrust of 100 kg. The Ministry of Science and Technology said, the engines have been developed to address critical requirements for indigenous defence technologies.
3. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has approved transfer of DRDO-developed technologies of missile systems to country’s private defence industry to bolster indigenous manufacturing. This step marks an important milestone in promoting greater participation of the domestic industries in the defence ecosystem by enabling them to undertake indigenous production.
4. Secretary of the Department of Defence Production Sanjeev Kumar said that India’s defence manufacturing sector is undergoing a historic transformation, surging to a record domestic production value of 1.78 lakh crore rupees in Financial Year 2025-26 up sharply from 43,000 crore rupees in 2013-14.
