1. PM Modi urges private space sector to build global aura of innovation as India celebrates National Space Day. 🌙 Chandrayaan-3 legacy: National Space Day commemorates India’s successful launch of Chandrayaan-3 an ISRO lunar mission that successfully landed the Vikram lander and Pragyan rover near the Moon’s south pole on 23 August 2023. India became the fourth country to soft-land on the Moon and the first to reach its southern high latitudes.
2. The National Zoological Park (NZP), New Delhi, successfully organised the 2nd edition of ‘Tree Walk @ NZP’ along with its 11th Sunday Bird Walk yesterday. The programme was organised as part of the Zoo’s ongoing Citizen Science Initiative, which aims to encourage public participation in biodiversity documentation.
3. Ministry of Tribal Affairs to organise a three-day National Conclave on Tribal Languages and Museums till Wednesday in Mysuru, Karnataka. The Conclave will bring together a national dialogue on the documentation, preservation and revitalization of tribal languages.
4. The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and Cultus Education have announced the launch of a nationwide cloud and Artificial Intelligence skilling initiative in collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS).
5. Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has clarified that no new strain of H1N1 commonly know as Swine flu, has been identified and there is no cause for panic, assuring that current vaccines remain effective. According to senior scientists at the ICMR, these viruses have been in circulation since the year 2025.
6. The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra through Sikkim’s Nathu La route concluded today with 464 pilgrims completing the pilgrimage in 10 batches. The yatra, which began on 20th June, concluded with the return of the final batch of pilgrims to Gangtok.
7. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange colour warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Odisha, East Madhya Pradesh till today.
8. The IMD forecast heavy rainfall conditions at isolated places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Coastal Karnataka, East Uttar Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Kerala, Mahe, Madhya Maharashtra, and South Interior Karnataka for the next two to three days. Similar weather conditions are likely to prevail over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Telangana, Uttarakhand, Vidarbha, West Madhya Pradesh and North Eastern Region.

1. Delhi Police has clarified that no permission has been granted to any individual or organisation for holding a protest or gathering at Jantar Mantar yesterday. It said that various videos and posts are being circulated calling upon people to gather and assemble on the issue of reservation reforms.
2. The Supreme Court has directed local bodies to order water and power disconnection of bulk waste generators over violation of Solid Waste Management Rules.
3. A government school principal in Alwar, Rajasthan, was suspended after a video of him bathing with girl students in a dam went viral.
Lal Chand Meena, the principal, allegedly took over 200 students to a prohibited dam on August 15.
The dam had 11 feet of water, and bathing was banned due to drowning risks.
4. The government-run Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya (IGKV), Raipur, has cancelled the B.Sc Agriculture first-year Plant Pathology examination held on August 7 after a police investigation into a separate case confirmed that the paper had been leaked.

A Panama-flagged cargo ship with 24 crew members, mostly Chinese, on board sank in the Bay of Bengal yesterday. Officials said the ship sank about 240 nautical miles off the Odisha coast. Twenty of the crew members on the ship, MV Ocean Winner, were Chinese, three Myanmarese and one Bangladeshi.
The ship was heading to Singapore carrying 72,100 mt of iron ore fines from Odisha. It had left the Paradip coast at 10.42 pm on August 20. Indian Coast Guard and Indian Navy have launched a rescue operation. So far, two persons have been rescued from the waters.

1. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has stressed the need for self-reliance in building war ships, off-shore vessels and and related maritime sectors, describing it as vital to the country’s security. Mr Singh was addressing the gathering after laying the foundation stone for five expansion projects of the Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE), and Yantra India Limited worth approximately 3400 crore rupees in Kolkata.
2. The Airbus A400M has officially withdrawn from the Indian Air Force’s Medium Transport Aircraft competition. The decision was driven by high acquisition costs, lifecycle support concerns, and the aircraft’s engine history, which collectively made the platform unsuitable for India’s stated requirement of 18–30 tons payload capacity.
3. BrahMos Aerospace has formally presented its missile systems to the United Arab Emirates and submitted a detailed proposal, marking a significant step towards India’s first potential BrahMos sale in the Gulf region.The UAE is actively considering the offer as part of its broader defence diversification strategy following recent regional conflicts.

The Indian Army has raised its first dedicated drone battalion along the western front with Pakistan, marking a major step in its post-Operation Sindoor transformation.The newly formed Baaz Battalion will function under the Jalandhar-based 11 Corps, also known as the Vajra Corps, which oversees sensitive stretches of the India-Pakistan border in northern Punjab.
4. The Ministry of Defence has achieved a significant milestone by successfully indigenising more than 15,700 defence items. This accomplishment has resulted in an estimated import substitution value of about ₹9,000 crores, underscoring the scale of India’s self-reliance drive in the defence sector.
5. Indo-Russian Rifles Private Limited (IRRPL) has manufactured and test-fired India’s first 100% indigenised AK-203 assault rifle, named Sher, at the Korwa ordnance facility in Amethi, Uttar Pradesh. The prototype used only domestic Indian components and raw materials, marking a shift from licensed assembly to end-to-end local production.
