2. Boxer Narender Berwal Selected for Prestigious Arjuna Award
Narender Berwal, an international-level boxer from Sorkhi village in Hansi district of Haryana, who has brought glory to the country, has been selected for the Arjuna Award.
3. In Men’s Cricket, India beat host Sri Lanka by 165 runs in the first Test of the two-match series in Galle yesterday. India now leads 1-nil in the series. Chasing a target of 372, Sri Lanka were bowled out for 206 in 77.4 overs during the post-lunch session, handing India a comfortable victory.
4. In Hockey, India registered a comprehensive 5-3 victory over arch-rivals Pakistan in the FIH World Cup at Amstelveen in the Netherlands yesterday, to qualify for the next round.
India had earlier opened their campaign with a 3-1 win over Wales before suffering a 4-2 defeat against England. India and England advanced to the next round from Group D, while Pakistan’s campaign came to an end.
