Pune, Maharashtra | 16 August 2026: The 16th Hockey India Junior Women National Championship 2026 witnessed the much-anticipated commencement of Division ‘A’ action in Pune, Maharashtra, with Hockey Haryana, Hockey Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh Hockey registering victories, while Uttar Pradesh Hockey and Manipur Hockey played out a 1-1 draw in their respective Pool encounters.
Division ‘B’ also saw two matches being played, with Delhi Hockey and Hockey Uttarakhand securing comprehensive victories.
Hockey Haryana begin Division ‘A’ campaign with emphatic win
Hockey Haryana made a dominant start to their Division ‘A’ campaign, defeating Hockey Bengal 10-1 in Pool B.
Kaur Sukhpreet opened the scoring in the 2nd minute, while Anjani added her first goal in the 6th minute. Khasa Shashi (C) found the net in the 14th minute before Anjani struck again in the 21st minute. Bhavya and Khushi scored in the 29th minute, with Khasa Shashi adding another in the 47th minute.
Anjani completed her hat-trick with goals in the 49th and 57th minutes, while Diksha scored in the 52nd minute to complete Hockey Haryana’s ten-goal tally. Hockey Bengal’s lone goal came through Jadia Salmi in the 17th minute.
Hockey Jharkhand secure 6-0 victory over Hockey Chandigarh
In Pool A, Hockey Jharkhand began their Division ‘A’ campaign on a winning note with a commanding 6-0 victory over Hockey Chandigarh.
Pushpa Dang scored twice, in the 20th and 44th minutes, while Horo Esther and Mundri Saroj found the back of the net in the 39th and 40th minutes respectively. Jamuna Kumari added the fifth goal in the 51st minute, before Sangita Kumari completed the scoring in the 54th minute.
Chhattisgarh Hockey edge Hockey Himachal in 10-goal thriller
Chhattisgarh Hockey secured a hard-fought 6-4 victory over Hockey Himachal in Pool D.
Yashoda led the scoring for Chhattisgarh Hockey with a hat-trick, finding the net in the 2nd, 41st and 54th minutes. Yadav Sheetal scored in the 6th minute, while DHURVE Neha struck twice in the 7th and 15th minutes.
Hockey Himachal fought back with goals from Sonam and Kaur Navneet in the 28th minute, followed by TOPPO Shani Jharia in the 43rd minute and captain Khushi Verma in the 59th minute.
Uttar Pradesh Hockey and Manipur Hockey share honours
Pool C witnessed a closely contested encounter as Uttar Pradesh Hockey and Manipur Hockey played out a 1-1 draw.
PATEL Vandana (C) gave Uttar Pradesh Hockey the lead in the 20th minute, but Manipur Hockey responded immediately through Huidrom Bidyaluxmi Devi, who also scored in the 20th minute.
Delhi Hockey blank Assam Hockey 6-0
In Division ‘B’, Pool A, Delhi Hockey registered a comprehensive 6-0 victory over Assam Hockey.
Nisha opened the scoring in the 2nd minute, followed by Bindia Kerketta (C) in the 28th minute and Rana Nishu in the 30th minute. Dipika added the fourth goal in the 43rd minute, while Tanisha Ekka scored in the 47th minute. Lakra Namrata completed the scoring in the 59th minute.
Hockey Uttarakhand defeat Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu 3-1
In Division ‘B’, Pool B, Hockey Uttarakhand secured a 3-1 victory over Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu.
Aarti put Hockey Uttarakhand ahead in the 9th minute, before Upadhayay Kashish doubled the advantage in the 11th minute. Mukta added the third goal in the 19th minute.
Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu pulled one back through Priyadharsini K in the 35th minute, but Hockey Uttarakhand held on to secure all three points.
