1. The Parliament has passed the National Co-operative Development Corporation(NCDC) (Amendment) Bill, 2026 with Rajya Sabha approving it yesterday. Lok Sabha has already passed the Bill. Minister of State for Cooperation Murlidhar Mohol moved the bill, which aims to further amend the National Co-operative Development Corporation Act, 1962.
2. The Parliament has passed the Kerala (Alteration of Name) Bill, 2026, with the Rajya Sabha approving it yesterday. The Lok Sabha had passed the legislation yesterday. The Bill seeks to change the name of the state of Kerala to Keralam in the First Schedule of the Constitution.
3. Lok Sabha referred the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026, to the Joint Parliamentary Committee for further scrutiny. The bill aims to further amend the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 2010. The objective of the Bill is to make the use of foreign contributions more transparent and accountable.
4. More than 50,000 saplings were planted across the country on the occasion of Hariyali Amavasya yesterday. This is a part of a nationwide plantation drive led by Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan in collaboration with the Vriksh Mitra Parivar.
5. One Herb, One Standard initiative aims to protect India’s traditional medicine heritage, says AYUSH Minister
6. AYUSH Minister Prataprao Jadhav said that One Herb, One Standard initiative aims to strengthen the quality and credibility of Traditional Medicines. Mr Jadhav was addressing the event on the renewal of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the implementation of the One Herb, One Standard initiative yesterday.
7. Vice President Shri C P Radhakrishnan addresses Har Ghar Tiranga Bike Rally marking 150 years of Vande Mataram. The Vice President said that the words of Vande Mataram had ignited patriotism and united people across regions, languages, faiths, and backgrounds in the fight against colonialy rule.
8. Himachal Pradesh state government has issued a notification imposing an orphan and widow cess of 60 paise per litre on petrol and diesel.
9. Chief Minister of West Bengal Suvendu Adhikari has said that the state government is planning to introduce a bill to prevent forced religious conversions in the state.
10. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted the formation of a low-pressure area over the North Bay of Bengal in the next 12 hours.
The Weather Department said that heavy rainfall conditions are also likely to prevail over Karnataka, East Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Karaikal, Puducherry, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Kerala, Goa and Rajasthan for the day. Similar weather conditions are expected over Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Madhya Maharashtra, Uttarakhand and North Eastern parts of India till 15th of this month.

1. The Calcutta High Court has cancelled all Other Backward Classes, or OBC-A and OBC-B certificates issued under the revised rules introduced by the previous Trinamool Congress government in West Bengal.
2. Union Home Minister Amit Shah says government ready to discuss students’ issue and answer questions in Parliament. He said Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju has already made it very clear that the government is ready for a discussion on all aspects related to the students’ protests over the NEET examination.
3. In Jharkhand, despite several rounds of talks and Assembly gherao, no breakthrough has been reached between the government and the protesting students. The students are demanding cancellation of the 2024 JSSC-CGL examination, through which more than two thousand candidates have already been appointed in various government departments.
4. The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has busted an inter-state drug network and seized more than 4.7 kilograms of methamphetamine valued at more than 9 crore rupees in Mumbai and Greater Noida.
5. West Bengal’s Special Task Force has arrested two individuals, including a suspected Pakistani national identified as Rana Rauf alias Wahab Alam, near the India-Bangladesh border. Investigators believe he has links to Pakistan’s ISI and was involved in espionage activities, including tracking military and railway movements.
6. The Government of India has ordered the transfer of Prasanna Ramaswamy G, IAS (AGMUT:2010) from Jammu and Kashmir to Lakshadweep with immediate effect.
7. The Uttarakhand government approved the relocation of the Uttarakhand High Court from Nainital to Haldwani in August 2026. The final executive order identified a 30-hectare site at Lamachaur on the Haldwani-Rudrapur highway (NH-05) for the new High Court campus.

1. In Mumbai, seven people were killed and seven others injured after a landslide struck a chawl in Chirag Nagar, Ghatkopar West.
2 In Himachal Pradesh, a Bolero pickup vehicle fell into a deep gorge at Gatlog in the Renuka Assembly constituency of Sirmaur district. Four people were killed in the accident, while nine others were injured.

1. TATA, Mahindra and HAL compete for ₹1 lakh Crores IAF transport aircraft programThe Defence Ministry has issued a tender worth approximately ₹1 lakh crore to acquire 60 multirole transport aircraft for the Indian Air Force.
2. The Indian Air Force has initiated the long-awaited process to replace its Hawk MK-132 advanced jet trainers, issuing a Request for Information to both Indian and global manufacturers for around 150 aircraft.
3. The Ministry of Defence is now advancing plans to induct a Medium‑Range Loitering Munition specifically designed for ship‑based operations with the Indian Navy.This initiative reflects a growing emphasis on enhancing maritime strike capabilities through indigenous unmanned systems that can deliver precision effects against both sea and land targets.
4. The Indian Space Research Organisation has successfully carried out the ground static test of an improved version of the solid booster stage, designated SS1, of the Small Satellite Launch Vehicle, announced ISRO.The test was conducted on 11 August 2026 at the static test facility located at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota.
5. Bangalore-based Othisis has achieved a major breakthrough by successfully hot-firing its fully cryogenic, 3D-printed rocket engine delivering 5 kN thrust. With a total impulse of 100 kNs, this engine is set to power their reusable hopper rocket scheduled for launch and landing trials later this year, marking a significant step in India’s private space sector.
6. The navies of India and Australia convened in Sydney from 11 to 12 August 2026 for the 17th Navy-to-Navy Staff Talks. The discussions were co-chaired by Rear Admiral Sachin Reuben Sequeira, Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Foreign Cooperation and Intelligence), and Rear Admiral Christopher Smith, Commander of the Australian Fleet.The talks centred on strengthening operational interoperability, expanding cooperation.
