1. Indian lifters continued their impressive performance at the Asian Junior Weightlifting Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, yesterday, with a gold and a silver medal in the men’s junior 60-kilogram category. Tomchou Meetei won a total of three medals – gold in the overall category, bronze in the snatch and silver in the clean and jerk.
2. Indian shuttler Ashmita Chaliha has reached the women’s singles final of the Korea Masters Super 300 badminton tournament in Asan, South Korea. Ashmita defeated fellow Indian Rakshitha Ramraj 21-13, 16-21, 21-13 in the semifinal yesterday.
3. India opened its medal account on the third day of the World Athletics U20 Championships in Eugene, USA, with Ashish Yadav winning silver in the men’s javelin throw.
The 19-year-old produced his best effort of 74.09 metres in his third attempt to finish second. Ashish became only the second Indian after Neeraj Chopra to win a silver medal in the event at the World Athletics U20 Championships.
4. Sai Sudharsan has been officially ruled out of India’s upcoming two-test series against Sri Lanka due to a toe injury after failing to receive a fitness clearance from the Centre of Excellence. His absence adds to a depleted Indian squad missing other key figures like Jasprit Bumrah and Washington Sundar.
5. Indian gymnast Ariha Pangambam of Imphal, Manipur, won India’s first senior gold medal in the individual women’s category at the Aerobic Gymnastics Asian Championships on 7 August 2026. The championship was held in Tagaytay City, Philippines, from 4 August to 7 August 2026 under the sanction of the Asian Gymnastics Union.
