10. Indian Railways approved a ₹976 crore multitracking project for the 29 km Danapur–Fatuha section of the East Central Railway in Bihar on 1 August 2026. The project covers line capacity expansion on the Patna rail corridor and includes third and fourth railway lines on selected stretches between Danapur, Patna, Rajendra Nagar, Patna Saheb and Fatuha.
11. National Security Adviser Ajit Doval received the Lokmanya Tilak National Award 2026 on 1 August 2026 in Pune, Maharashtra. The award was presented by the Lokmanya Tilak Smarak Trust on the 106th death anniversary of Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak. Union Home Minister Amit Shah presented the award at the ceremony.
12. The Union Cabinet has approved the continuation of the PM-KISAN Scheme from 2026-27 to 2030-31 with a ₹3.15 lakh crore outlay. Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) Scheme, it reaffirms the government’s promise to bring about farmers welfare and provide support for rural development. As per the approval, the scheme will cost ₹3.15 lakh crore and will continue providing for ₹6,000 annually for eligible landholding families.
13. The Self-Enumeration facility for Census 2027 has commenced in Assam from 02 Aug.
14. Rupakheda village in Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh is becoming a new model of modern farming. The village is now known as the ‘Mini Holland of Madhya Pradesh’ because of its flower cultivation. Earlier, farmers here depended on traditional crops like wheat, gram, maize and soybean. Now they grow roses, gerbera, lilies and other flowers, along with high quality vegetables in polyhouses and shade net houses. The village has 44 polyhouses and 13 shade net houses.
15. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange colour warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall over Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, Sub Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim.

1. West Bengal Urban Development and Municipal Affairs Minister Agnimitra Paul said illegal construction in the Siliguri Municipal Corporation and Darjeeling Hills municipal areas will not be tolerated. Chairing a high-level review meeting in Siliguri, she said a committee will identify all unauthorised constructions, following which action, including demolition, will be taken.
2 Telangana Police have rescued 6,307 children in a month-long special drive called Operation Muskaan-12, aimed at ending child labour and child trafficking across the state. The operation ran from 1st to 31st of last month. Around 620 police personnel from 124 sub-division teams took part. After training on laws and procedures, teams raided places where child labour is common, including railway stations, bus stands, temples, brick kilns, mechanic shops, construction sites, and tea stalls.

1. Floodwaters are gradually receding in Odisha, but the situation remains challenging in the worst-affected districts. Shortages of drinking water, extensive crop damage and destruction of houses have added to the hardships of flood-affected families.
2. The flood situation in three states, Gujarat, Odisha and Keralam, continued to be grim. In Gujarat, the weather department has issued a Red Alert for heavy- to very heavy rainfall across six districts.
