6. The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer of Arunachal Pradesh has officially published the Draft Electoral Roll under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026. Out of 8,87,505 registered electors, 7,18,046 submitted their enumeration forms by July 14, while 1,69,459 forms remained uncollectable due to shifting, deaths, or absence.
7. Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh has appealed to the protesting students of the NEET paper leak issue to come for talks, saying government is ready for discussions on all issues. Talking to media, the Minister said that in the last 24 hours, as many as four offers were made to the student representatives of the ongoing protest for a dialogue.
8. The Home Affairs Ministry is proactively monitoring the monsoon situation across the country. The Ministry said in a statement that it is providing all necessary support to affected States and Union Territories in managing challenges posed by heavy rains. In July, country has faced heavy rains and landslides in places including Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, West Bengal, Assam, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Dadar and Nagar Haveli, Daman, and Jammu and Kashmir.
9. Indian Railways has approved the Third Line Project between Nimpura West Outer Cabin and Midnapur of South Eastern Railway at a cost of 440 crore rupees.
10. The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) has transferred four indigenous technologies to industry and commercially launched an Internet of Things (IoT)-enabled rural water service delivery, measurement and monitoring system.
11. Ayush Minister Prataprao Jadhav inaugurated Prakriti Café at Ayush Bhawan in New Delhi, a first-of-its-kind workplace initiative of the Ministry aimed at promoting healthy dietary practices inspired by Ayush Ahaar.

Minister of State in the Department of Atomic Energy, Dr Jitendra Singh has said that the government is aiming to bring at least five indigenous small modular nuclear reactors into operation by 2033. In a written reply in Lok Sabha, the minister said parliament has enacted the SHANTI Act, 2025, which opens the nuclear energy sector to private participation.
13. Good news for train passengers: Indian Railways has taken up the manufacturing of 17,000 new general and sleeper coaches to strengthen affordable rail travel across the country. The move aims to increase capacity, ease overcrowding and improve travel for millions of passengers who rely on general and sleeper classes for their daily and long-distance journeys.
14. Tamil Nadu renamed the Chief Minister’s Breakfast Scheme as the Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Breakfast Scheme on 22 July 2026. The scheme was first launched in September 2022 for students in Classes 1 to 5 in government primary schools.
The renamed scheme will extend coverage to students in Classes 6 to 8 in government and government-aided schools. The expansion is scheduled for 17 September 2026, which is the birth anniversary of social reformer Periyar E.V. Ramasamy.
15. Gujarat launched the statewide Samras Vidyasetu Mega Campaign on 22 July 2026 from Ahmedabad to re-enrol more than 80,000 school dropout children in classes 1 to 12. The campaign is linked to the state’s stated goal of achieving “Zero Dropout” through school re-entry, tracking, and retention measures.
16. Social activist Anna Hazare on Thursday (July 23, 2026) observed a two-hour-long maun andolan (silent protest) at Ahilyanagar in Maharashtra to extend his support for protesting students in Delhi.
17. Sonam Wangchuk ended his 26-day hunger strike on Friday, 24 July 2026. Cherring Dorjay Lakruk, co-convenor of the Leh Apex Body, confirmed that Wangchuk broke his fast in the presence of Union Ministers JP Nadda and Dr. Jitendra Singh, along with his wife and supporters.
The fast ended after prolonged negotiations and government assurances, including:
No punitive legal action against students who participated in peaceful protests.

1. The Delhi Police has debunked the reports circulating on social media claiming that the death of a female during the protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi. In a social media post, the police clarified that the information is false and misleading.
The Delhi Police informed that the woman is alive and is currently admitted to Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital.
2. Former Travancore Devaswom Board President P S Prasanth was arrested by the Special Investigation Team(SIT) in connection with Sabarimala Gold Scam. Soon after taking him to custody, The SIT recorded his arrest.
3. Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Forests and Environment Pawan Kalyan has ordered a comprehensive inquiry into alleged environmental violations in gravel mining at Panchadarla Hill in Anakapalli district.
4. The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) dismantled a clandestine Mephedrone manufacturing facility operating from a residential premise in Ankleshwar, Gujarat. The Ministry of Finance said that three persons involved in the illicit drug manufacturing and trafficking network have been arrested.
5. Both the Houses of Parliament adjourned for the day following the opposition protest over various issues, including the NEET paper leak case and student protests. When the Lok Sabha assembled after the second adjournment at 2:00 PM, the opposition members again started sloganeering. The Presiding Officer Dilip Saikia appealed the opposition to cooperate for smooth functioning of the House.

1. A cloudburst has caused massive devastation in the Garhgun and Spada villages of the Boh Valley in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh. Twenty-five houses were completely destroyed in the disaster, while many others sustained damage. No loss of life reported so far. Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa visited the affected areas to review relief and rehabilitation efforts.
2. In Sikkim, all the 25 bodies have been recovered trapped inside the under-construction tunnel of the NHPC Teesta Stage VI Hydroelectric Project at Samardung in Namchi district. With this, the rescue operation came to an end after four days. Multiple agencies of the Centre and Sikkim government were involved in the rescue measures. The Sikkim government has also constituted a 4-member inquiry committee to find out the reasons for the tragic incident.
3. In Jammu and Kashmir, in a swift and well-coordinated rescue operation, Jammu Police and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) yesterday successfully rescued two persons who were stranded in the River Tawi near Prambli, Phallian Mandal, following a sudden rise in the water level.
4. Incessant rain continues to wreak havoc in Assam, with 10 more flood-related deaths reported yesterday, taking the toll to 41. Over 6.4 lakh people have been affected across the state.

1. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh flagged in Samudra Pradakshina, the first-ever tri-service all-women circumnavigation sailing expedition, through video conferencing. Nine women officers of the three Services returned to Mumbai aboard the Indian Army Sailing Vessel (IASV) Triveni after completing a 314-day voyage covering over twenty five thousand nautical miles across four oceans.
2. In Chhattisgarh, Agniveers will now get ten per cent reservation in direct recruitment to the posts of constables in the Police Department, forest guards in the Forest Department, and wardens in the Jail Department.
3. The Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) yesterday successfully conducted the maiden flight test of Long-Range Surface-to-Air Missile Kusha from the APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the coast of Odisha.
