1. President Smt Droupadi Murmu inaugurated Saushrutam 2026 on 15 July 2026 at the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in New Delhi. The policy encourages fresh investments in gas-based urea manufacturing plants across India to increase domestic production.
5. Uttar Pradesh launched Kaushal Setu and Kaushal Sarathi on 15 July 2026 in Lucknow during the state-level celebration of World Youth Skills Day-2026 at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan. Kapil Dev Aggarwal, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Vocational Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, inaugurated both digital platforms.
6. Agnikul Cosmos is preparing Mission 02, which is planned as India’s first private-sector attempt at orbital-class rocket reusability. The mission involves the Agnibaan rocket, a launch vehicle developed for small satellite missions, and a first-stage booster recovery attempt through controlled descent and ocean recovery.
*Somanath, former Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation, has joined Chennai-based Agnikul Cosmos as an observer on its board of directors. He served as ISRO Chairman from January 2022 to January 2025 and worked in India’s space programme for nearly 40 years.
7. Project INROAD, or Indian Natural Rubber Operations for Assisted Development, is a plantation expansion initiative for natural rubber in North-East India and West Bengal. By 15-16 July 2026, the project had created 1.8 lakh hectares of new rubber plantations against a target of 2 lakh hectares across 113 districts.
8. Kolkata Metro is gearing up to begin a revolutionary phase in public transportation by rolling out its driverless metro trains on the Green Line and Purple Line. The completion of the evaluation by the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) puts Kolkata Metro on the map of launching one of India’s top public transport systems.
9. Union Cabinet chaired under the leadership of Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the Mobile Phone Manufacturing Scheme (MPMS). The plan has a financial backing of ₹62,500crore, intending to boost the local manufacturing, increase value addition, enhance supply chain efficiency, promote Indian brands and positioning India as a global leader in mobile manufacturing.
10. Shri Jagannath Rath Yatra is deemed as one of the most eminent festivals of Hindus in India. Millions of devotees visit the city of Puri in Odisha during the celebration. The festival starts with the departure of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra from the Jagannath Temple through their chariots. In 2026, the Rath Yatra will take place on 16th July, Thursday.

12. In a historic development for the Union Territory of Daman, the first commercial flight to New Delhi was flagged off yesterday from the newly constructed Namo Airport. Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu and Union Territory Administrator Praful Patel jointly flagged off the maiden flight at a special ceremony held at the airport.
13. Andhra Pradesh Food Processing Minister T G Bharath highlights technology’s role in food industry at FICCI Foodworld 2026. Addressing the 17th edition of FICCI Foodworld India 2026 in New Delhi, Mr Bharath said the sector is now driven by technology, innovation, sustainability and value creation for farmers.

The Ministry of Heavy Industries has called for global bids to set up the Advanced Chemistry Cell (ACC) battery manufacturing units under the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme of the Indian government. This is the final stage of the ₹18,100-crore PLI project that seeks to establish a strong domestic battery manufacturing ecosystem and minimize import dependence on batteries.
15. The Ministry of Power circulated the Draft Corporate Average Fuel Economy 2027 norms for stakeholder consultation. The proposed norms will apply to M1 category passenger vehicles manufactured or imported for sale in the country during the period 2027-28 to 2031-32.
16. Union Agriculture and Farmer Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that India has recorded a production of 376 million tonnes of food grains and 377 million tonnes of horticultural produce this year despite challenges like climate change.
17. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast enhanced rainfall activity with heavy to very heavy falls over East and Northeast India, East Uttar Pradesh and Western Himalayan Region during the next 7 days.

1. The Supreme Court expressed concern over the introduction of a third language in Class 9 under the CBSE curriculum, observing that it could increase the stress levels of students. The Apex Court suggested that the third language be introduced in Class 5 or Class 6 to enable students to cope with it more effectively.
2. The Department of Space issued an internal memorandum on 14 July 2026 to tighten rules for voluntary retirement and resignation of scientists associated with the Indian Space Research Organisation. The directive applies to Group A scientific and technical personnel up to the Scientist/Engineer-SG level and covers personnel linked with missions such as Gaganyaan.
3. Another Rajya Sabha MP from Trinamool Congress, Koel Mallick has resigned from the Upper House of the Parliament. She met Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman CP Radhakrishnan and has submitted her resignation. She was elected to Rajya Sabha in April this year. Koel Mallick is TMC’s fourth Rajya Sabha MP to quit. Earlier, three Rajya Sabha MPs Sukhendu Sekhar Ray, Sushmita Dev and Prakash Chik Baraik had resigned. They later joined the BJP.

1. The Indian Navy will commission the second of the Mahe-class Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft, Malvan, on the 22nd of this month. The Defence Ministry informed that Malvan, built at Cochin Shipyard Limited in Kochi, epitomises India’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat vision in modern naval shipbuilding and design.
2. The Indian Navy will host Operation Southern Readiness 26-2 at the Southern Naval Command, Kochi, from 20th to 23rd of this month. The Defence Ministry said that the four-day multinational training engagement will be conducted in partnership with the Combined Maritime Forces (CMF) under the aegis of the Indian Navy-led Combined Task Force 154 (CTF 154), CMF’s dedicated Training Task Force.
3. Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit, then Chief of Integrated Defence Staff to the Chairman Chiefs of Staff Committee, recently reviewed the progress of the TEJAS MK-1A program and other indigenous aviation projects in Bangalore. The inspection highlighted both achievements and persistent challenges in India’s fighter aircraft development efforts.
