Raj Kundra has faced his fair share of struggles at a time when he was accused and arrested for allegedly being involved in distributing pornographic content. The actor-businessman describes it as a dark phase of his life, and somewhere in between, it continues to remain a nightmare. Recently, he looked back at the time when he faced public scrutiny and online negativity and revealed how Shilpa Shetty helped him soar past that phase.
“People said a lot of things like ‘He’s facing a lot of humiliation and he’s wearing a dastaar just to clean his image’. Why would I do that to clean my image? I would have stepped into charity and I could have shown that. I never felt that the public perception would do that to me. I won’t deny that negativity hurts to an extent. It did,” he speaks candidly.
The times have changed today, and Raj Kundra reveals how the perception is changing. “Even today, there are trolls who speak about it. There was a time when 90/100 comments were negative in the beginning. The tables have turned today – there are 90 positive comments and 10 negative. It is Shilpa who told me that sometimes, the industry is ruthless and I needed to have a thick skin to get past the negativity,” he concludes.
Despite the situation, Raj Kundra’s belief in the Indian legal system is rock solid. He continues to state that he still has faith in the rule of law, and for someone who is a family man, Raj Kundra is not the one to falter!
