1. In Women’s Cricket, the Indian team led by Harmanpreet Kaur, yesterday recorded a historic win in a one-off Test against hosts England at Lord’s. India defeated England comfortably by 270 runs in the first-ever Women’s Test held at Lord’s.
Chasing a target of 457 runs, the hosts were all out for 186 in their second innings before lunch on day 4. For India, Sneh Rana took 4 wickets, while Sayali Satghare, Kranti Gaud and Deepti Sharma bagged two wickets each.
2. Indian boxers remained a strong force at the Asian U-19 and U-23 Championships, with 16 of them advancing to the finals across men’s and women’s categories and seven others securing bronze medals after semifinal finishes in Jakarta.
3. The second edition of the Amaravati Championship will begin across Andhra Pradesh from July 15. Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) Chairman A. Ravi Naidu unveiled the official poster of the championship in Vijayawada.
4. The semi-final line-up for the FIFA World Cup has been confirmed following the conclusion of the quarter-final matches.
In the first semi-final, France will take on Spain on Wednesday.
The second semi-final will be played between England and Argentina on Thursday.
The winners of the two semi-finals will meet in the FIFA World Cup final on the 20th of July at New Jersey Stadium. The losing teams will contest the third-place play-off on the 19th of July in Miami.
