Nepal set to hold Presidential elections today

1. PM Modi and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese will hold bilateral talks in New Delhi on Friday.

2. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Thursday held a meeting with US Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo, discussing strategic trade as well as resilient and reliable supply chains.The talks between the two leaders also covered trust and transparency in the digital domain.

3. Union Minister of State for External Affairs Rajkumar Ranjan Singh virtually participated in the 19th BIMSTEC Ministerial Meeting hosted by Chair Thailand virtually from Bangkok.

BIMSTEC is the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation is an international organisation of seven South Asian and Southeast Asian nations, housing 1.73 billion people and having a combined gross domestic product of US$4.4 trillion.

4. India, USA to hold commercial dialogue in New Delhi to discuss cooperation in various sectors that could unlock new trade & investment opportunities between two countries.

1. Ram Chandra Poudel of Nepali Congress has been elected as the third President of Nepal. Poudel, who was the common candidate of an eight-party alliance that included Nepali Congress and the CPN (Maoist Center), received the vote of 214 lawmakers of parliament and 352 provincial assembly members.

5. North Korea fires short-range missile ahead of U.S.-South Korea military exercises. The South Korean military said it had detected the launch from the North Korean port city of Nampo on its western coast at 6:20 p.m., adding later that it was also looking into the possibility that the North had fired multiple SRBMs simultaneously from the same area.

6. China’s Xi Jinping Set To Be Handed 3rd Term As President Today. Xi is likely to easily win National People’s Congress backing to serve five more years, demonstrating his unrivaled grip over the ruling Communist Party.
