1. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will share his thoughts with the people of the country and abroad in the Mann Ki Baat programme on Akashvani at 11 AM today. It will be the 135th episode of the monthly radio programme.

2. Vice President Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan yesterday inaugurated the 517th birth anniversary celebrations of Nadaprabhu Kempegowda at the Gyana Jyothi Auditorium in Bengaluru.

3. Union Ministers Ashwini Vaishnaw and Bhupender Yadav, along with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, laid the foundation stone for the Amber and Ascent-K Circuits manufacturing plant in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh.

4. Union Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region Jyotiraditya Scindia has begun his three-day visit to Guna yesterday, where he is participating in a series of public programmes.

5. The Prime Ministers Museum and Library (PMML) organised an exhibition dedicated to the life and legacy of former Prime Minister P. V. Narasimha Rao on the occasion of his 105th birth anniversary. The exhibition was inaugurated by PMML Chairman, Executive Council, Nripendra Misra, and opened to visitors at the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya.

6. Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will chair the National Rural Development Conference 2026 to be held on 28th and 29th of this month in New Delhi.

7. West Bengal is set to table a Uniform Civil Code Bill in the Assembly on 29 June 2026, during the Budget Session. The proposed law seeks a common civil code for marriage, divorce, inheritance and adoption for all citizens, irrespective of religion.

8. Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah launched the cooperation-based taxi service Bharat Taxi in Gujarat on 27 June 2026. The launch took place at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar, and the platform was introduced as India’s first cooperation-based, driver-owned ride-hailing service.

9. Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and Union Minister of State for DoNER Dr. Sukanta Majumdar yesterday inaugurated the three-day Tripura Global Pineapple Festival at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi.

10. India conducted its first satellite-based landing system approach on a jet engine aircraft on 27 June 2026 at Udaipur airport. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation used an IndiGo Airbus A320 for the approach through GAGAN, which is India’s Satellite-Based Augmentation System for civil aviation. GAGAN stands for GPS Aided GEO Augmented Navigation. It is a Satellite-Based Augmentation System.

11. Punjab government notified the Viksit Bharat-Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Scheme, Punjab 2026, on 26 June 2026. The scheme applies to all notified rural areas in the state from 1 July 2026 and replaces the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act framework for rural employment in Punjab.

The VB-G RAM G Scheme, Punjab, provides an annual employment guarantee of 125 days for rural households that volunteer for unskilled manual work.

12. Union Home Minister chaired the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee, (DISHA) meeting in Gandhinagar yesterday. Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi was present in the meeting. The Minister reviewed the implementation of various central flagship schemes.

13. The 353rd coronation anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was celebrated with traditional fervour and devotion at Raigad Fort today, in accordance with the Hindu lunar calendar (tithi). The coronation anniversary had earlier been commemorated on June 6 as per the Gregorian calendar.

14. India’s nationwide Pulse Polio National Immunization Day is taking place today, June 28, aiming to safeguard children against the virus. All children under the age of 5 must receive two drops of the Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV), regardless of their prior routine immunization status.

15. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red colour warning for very heavy rainfall with isolated extremely heavy rainfall over Assam, Meghalaya, Sub Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim.

Heavy rainfall is also expected over Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Konkan, Goa, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Vidarbha, Lakshadweep and the Andaman and Nicobar islands during the next two days.

1. The Teacher Eligibility Test, scheduled to be held across Maharashtra today, has been postponed following a question paper leak. The Maharashtra State Council of Examination announced the decision, stating that confidential information was received indicating that certain individuals in the Bhiwandi area of Thane had details related to the examination paper.

2. India’s government orders ministries to clear stray dogs from schools, hospitals, and public campuses by the end of June 2026, following Supreme Court safety ruling.

3. The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has officially acknowledged the resignations of its General Secretary, Champat Rai, and Trustee, Anil Mishra. The Trust’s Treasurer, Swami Govind Dev Giri Maharaj, issued a statement on the matter.

1. Camouflage patterns have ruled battlefields for decades. Now a new pattern has entered the ranks — the bandi jacket and beret are part of the Indian Army’s new dress code.

The Indian Army has released a new 174-page manual, Army Uniforms-2026, marking its first major overhaul of dress regulations in eight years. For the first time, officers are permitted to wear a closed-neck bandi jacket as part of their formal civil attire. The Army has also introduced a new winter dress, designated 3B, for all ranks. It comprises an angola shirt, battle jacket and beret.

2. Indian Naval Ships Udaygiri, Kavaratti, and Shakti of the Eastern Fleet arrived at Sattahip, Thailand, as part of their operational deployment to the South East Asia Region.

The ships, led by RAdm Alok Ananda, Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet, were received by the Royal Thai Navy.

3. Indian Coast Guard Ship (ICGS) Akshay, a new-generation Fast Patrol Vessel (FPV), was commissioned into the Bharatiya Tatrakshak Fleet at Goa yesterday.

4. The Defence Ministry said that certain posts circulating on social media platforms have sought to misrepresent Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s address delivered on the floor of Parliament on 28 July last year. The Ministry said these posts have selectively quoted an isolated portion of the speech to falsely imply that Defence Minister claimed that no Indian soldier lost his life during Operation Sindoor.

5. The Indian Navy’s indigenously built Survey Vessel Large, INS Ikshak, has reached Port Victoria in Seychelles as part of its operational deployment to the South West Indian Ocean Region.

6. Chief of the Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi felicitated five distinguished former soldiers with the Veteran Achievers Award during his visit to the Indian Army’s Fire and Fury Corps in Ladakh. The veterans were honoured for their exceptional and sustained contributions to the welfare of former servicemen, healthcare delivery, community development and nation-building.

7. Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu flagged off Operation Arunoday, a unique civil-military expedition to open the trekking route from Thingbu village to Bajrang Peak in Tawang district.

The expedition is being jointly undertaken by the Indian Army and the National Institute of Mountaineering and Adventure Sports (NIMAS).
