1. India’s liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) import pattern changed in 2026, with the United States becoming India’s largest supplier and the Middle East losing its earlier dominant share. India imports LPG for household cooking fuel, industrial use, and commercial consumption.

2. India has appointed veteran diplomat Vipul as its next Ambassador to Saudi Arabia. The 1998-batch IFS officer, currently serving as Ambassador to Qatar.

3. Telangana state has signed a cooperation agreement with Thuringia, a state in Germany. The agreement focuses on technology, skill training, startups, and life sciences. Minister-President Mario Voigt of Thuringia met Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy in Hyderabad.

4. Pakistan on Thursday claimed India’s plans to build a river-linking project to divert water from Chenab would be a “grave violation” of the Indus Waters Treaty and other international laws.

1. World Environment Day 2026 will be observed on June 5 with the theme “Inspired by Nature: For Climate. For Our Future.” Hosted by Azerbaijan, the global event highlights climate action, ecosystem restoration, biodiversity conservation.

2. Portugal and Austria were elected on 3 June 2026 as non-permanent members of the United Nations Security Council. Their two-year term will begin on 1 January 2027 and end on 31 December 2028.

3. NASA has officially ended the MAVEN (Mars Atmosphere and Volatile Evolution) mission after more than 11 years in orbit around Mars.

4. Bangladesh’s Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman has been elected President of the 81st Session of the UN General Assembly after defeating Cyprus’ Andreas Kakouris. His term begins on 8 September 2026 and will focus on peace, sustainable development, climate action, AI governance.
