1. Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired the 51st PRAGATI meeting to review ₹30,000 crore infrastructure projects, rooftop solar expansion, Ken-Betwa river linking, and Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0, while stressing faster implementation and better inter-state coordination. PRAGATI stands for the Pro Active Governance and Timely Implementation.

2. The longest serving Chief Minister in Karnataka Siddaramaiah submitted his resignation in the Governor’s office in Bengaluru yesterday after a breakfast meeting with his Cabinet colleagues. Addressing the media persons later, without naming D K Shivakumar, he asked the Governor to invite the CM designate for taking up the mantle of Chief Ministership in the state.

3. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released revised examination dates and admit cards for the Common University Entrance Test Undergraduate (CUET UG) 2026 examinations for admission to programs across central and participating universities. The examinations will now be conducted on the 31st of this month and 6th and 7th of next month.

4. Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan released over ten thousand crore rupees to twelve states under the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) through video conferencing. These States include Assam, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh.

5. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that Kazipet Rail Manufacturing Unit in Telangana will manufacture 200 intercity trains in the next five years. These trains will be deployed throughout the country for short distance travel.

6, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah has reiterated the government’s firm commitment to identify and deport every illegal immigrant from the country. He was addressing a public rally after inaugurating and laying the foundation stone for various developmental projects worth 340 Crore rupees in the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency.

7. A total of 370 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs were made operational across Delhi during 2025-26 under centrally sponsored healthcare schemes aimed at expanding accessible and preventive healthcare services.

9. Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports, Raksha Khadse, yesterday visited the Sports Authority of India-North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) centre in Shillong and reviewed sports infrastructure and training facilities.

10. The Meghalaya Cabinet has cleared an amendment to the Meghalaya Forest Authority Act, 1991, to improve coordination between the state forest department and the Autonomous District Councils in forest protection and management.

11. The Government of India has announced Kolkata as the host city for International Day of Yoga 2026, with the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing”. Thousands participated in Yoga Mahotsav at Khajuraho as the 25-day countdown to the global event officially began.

12. The state of Sikkim has officially been declared as the fully literate state under the ULLAS (Understanding of Lifelong Learning for All in Society) initiative. This announced in the august presence of Honorable President Smt Droupadi Murmu during the convocation ceremony of Sikkim University in Gangtok.

13. Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay on Monday announced a complete waiver of crop loans up to Rs 50,000 availed of by marginal farmers from cooperative banks. He also announced a 50% waiver for small farmers on loans up to Rs 50,000. In addition, large farmers who had availed of crop loans up to Rs 1 lakh would receive a waiver of Rs 5,000 each.

14. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national leadership has appointed sitting MLA Abhishek Debroy as the new President of the BJP Tripura Pradesh unit with immediate effect. Debroy succeeds Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee.

15. BJP appoints Kewal Singh Dhillon as Punjab unit president. A former Barnala MLA, Mr. Dhillon was born in Tallewal village in Barnala. He served as MLA from here from 2007 to 2017. Later, he joined the BJP in June 2022 and was subsequently appointed vice-president of the Punjab unit.

16. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast that heatwave conditions are expected to abate over many parts of Northwest India. Rajasthan is likely to witness severe heatwave conditions over the next two days.

1. Indian national Abdul Rahim, who spent nearly two decades in prison in Saudi Arabia in a high-profile case that drew widespread attention from the Indian diaspora, is finally returning home to Keralam after being released from jail.

Rahim had been convicted in connection with the death of a 15-year-old Saudi boy with disabilities, in what was described as an accidental incident. The case triggered a massive support campaign among expatriate Indians, especially the Malayali community in Saudi Arabia.

2. The CBI has arrested Giribala Singh in the Twisha Sharma death case. Giribala is Twisha’s mother-in-law and a retired district and sessions judge.

Twisha Sharma died under suspicious circumstances on the night of May 12 in the Katara Hills area of Bhopal. Her in-laws claim it was suicide. But her family has accused her husband and in-laws of murder.

3. Government of West Bengal is taking all possible steps to make Bengal free of illegal infiltrators. Soon after taking office, Chief Minister Subhendu Adhikari introduced the “Detect-Delete-Deport” policy. Under this plan, infiltrators are being detained and pushed back to Bangladesh after completing all legal formalities.

4. Ranchi Police has arrested top PLFI commander and 10 lakh rupee reward-carrying extremist Amrit Horo from the Lapung area. Acting on local intelligence inputs and long-term surveillance, a special police team led by Ranchi SSP Rakesh Ranjan carried out the operation and apprehended him.

5. The Meghalaya Cabinet has approved a major one-time settlement scheme of 90 per cent waiver on penalties for non-renewal of fitness certificates. The Cabinet has additionally approved an 80 per cent waiver on penalties related to motor vehicle tax and passenger and goods tax under the one-time settlement scheme.

6. The Supreme Court has upheld the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar, ruling that the exercise is constitutionally valid and aimed at ensuring accurate voter lists and free and fair elections across India.

Renowned Urdu poet and literary figure Bashir Badr passed away at the age of 91 in Bhopal yesterday. Bashir Badr was born on 15 February 1935 in Ayodhya. He completed his post-graduation from Aligarh Muslim University. He joined Meerut College as a lecturer in the Urdu department and taught there until 1990.

1. President Smt Droupadi Murmu conferred the prestigious President’s Police Colour to the Sikkim Police yesterday. The Alankaran Parade was held at the Paljor Stadium in Gangtok. Sikkim has become the 15th state of the country and 3rd from North East to receive this award.

2. INS Sudarshini arrived at Antigua yesterday after successfully completing a historic trans-Atlantic passage as part of the ongoing Lokayan 26 expedition. The ship was warmly received by the Consul General of India to Antigua and Barbuda, Vijay Tewani and Chief of Defence Staff of Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force.

Russia and the Taliban-led authorities in Afghanistan signed a military-technical cooperation agreement on 27 May 2026 during the International Security Forum in the Moscow region. The agreement was signed by Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu and Afghan Defence Minister Mohammad Yaqoob.
