1. A three day special sitting of the extended Budget session of Parliament will begin today. The session which will continue till the 18th of this month, will primarily focus on Constitutional Amendments to the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam.
*The government will introduce three amendment bills to pave the way for the operationalisation of the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam Bill, which was passed in 2023, proposing 33 percent reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and State Assemblies.

Supreme Court on Wednesday (April 15) appointed former Madras High Court Chief Justice Manindra Mohan Shrivastava as Court Administrator to verify and oversee the long-pending issue of unpaid dues along with PF claims of thousands of workers of Jaipur Udyog Ltd. (JUL), directing completion of the exercise by 31 August 2026.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday (April 15, 2026) stayed the order of the Telangana High Court granting interim protection from arrest to Congress leader and spokesperson Pawan Khera in connection with an FIR filed by Riniki Bhuyan Sharma, wife of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, over allegations that she held multiple passports.

2. The death toll in the boiler explosion incident in Singhanterai of Chhattisgarh has risen to 14. The explosion occurred when a boiler tube exploded at a Vedanta Ltd power plant in Singhanterai village of Sakti district.

4. In a major boost to India’s aerospace capabilities, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and US-based GE Aerospace have agreed to significantly shorten the timeline for establishing domestic production of the F414-GE-INS6 jet engine.
5. Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) is equipping the Combat Air Teaming System (CATS) Warrior drone with major artificial intelligence and autonomy upgrades.
Originally designed as a remotely piloted wingman, the system is now being fundamentally transformed into a semi-autonomous combat partner.

1. International Monetary Fund has raised India’s FY27 growth forecast to 6.5%, citing strong domestic performance, while warning that West Asia tensions could push oil prices higher and fuel global inflation risks.
