1. The nation pays homage to the Chief Architect of Indian Constitution, Dr B. R. Ambedkar, on his 136th birth anniversary today. Several functions have been organised throughout the country to mark the occasion. In New Delhi, a function has been organised at Parliament House Complex this morning to pay tributes to Dr B. R. Ambedkar.

2. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh today. During his visit, PM Modi will inaugurate the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor in Dehradun.

3. The Unnat Krishi Mahotsav 2026 concluded in Raisen, Madhya Pradesh. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari emphasised adopting agricultural system knowledge and modern technologies.

4. Punjab assembly has unanimously passed the ‘Jaagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar (Amendment)’ Bill, 2026, during the specially convened Vidhan Sabha session.

5. Andhra Pradesh Launches India’s First Quantum Testbeds : AP CM N Chandrababu Naidu is set to inaugurate India’s first indigenous quantum computing testbeds on April 14, 2026, marking a significant step in the country’s advanced technology landscape. The initiative positions Andhra Pradesh as a pioneer in building a domestic ecosystem for quantum research, testing, and innovation. The launch coincides with World Quantum Day.

6. A new study led by researchers from Nagaland University identified the anti-cancer potential of a traditional herbal formulation used by the Konyak Naga tribe.

7. Nagaland has achieved nearly 95% household tap water coverage under the Jal Jeevan Mission.

8. The southwest monsoon seasonal rainfall from June to September is expected to be below normal this year. Briefing media in New Delhi, Director General of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) Dr Mrityunjaya Mohapatra said that the seasonal rainfall over the country is likely to be 92% of the long period average (LPA) with a model error of ±5%.

9. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning over Arunachal Pradesh over the next two days.

1. Telangana Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) Joint Action Committee (JAC) has announced a statewide indefinite strike from April 22. One of the major demands was the privatisation of the corporation. The government plans to introduce private Electric Vehicles (EVs) in the Greater Hyderabad Zone and transfer RTC buses to districts.

2. The Supreme Court of India ruled on April 11, 2026, that the right to vote and contest elections are statutory, not fundamental rights. The judgment, arising from a Rajasthan cooperative society case, said these rights are governed by laws like the Representation of the People Act.

3. In Tamil Nadu, a 61-day ban on fishing will be implemented from the 15th of April to protect fish breeding. During the period, there will be no fishing by any boats in the coastal areas. The fishermen have also been instructed not to trespass into the neighbouring states using country boats.

4. In a setback to senior RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav, the Supreme Court refused to quash the FIR registered by CBI and charge sheets filed against him in the alleged land-for-jobs case. A bench comprising Justices MM Sundresh and N Kotiswar Singh granted exemption to the 77-year-old Mr Lalu from personal appearance before the trial court.

5. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) Mumbai Zonal Office is conducting searches yesterday in the case of Ashok Kharat, known as a godman, and others in Nashik, Pune, and Shirdi under the Prevention of Money-Laundering Act, 2002. The Search operations are being done based on an FIR dated the 6th of this month for extortion, fraud, and abuse, with allegations of misuse of bank accounts, land investments, and exploitation of victims.

6. In Chhattisgarh, an encounter took place between police personnel and Maoists in the Machpalli area of Kanker district. A woman Maoist commander, Roopi, was killed in the exchange of fire.

1. President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President CP Radhakrishnan and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have expressed grief over the tragic accident in Surendranagar district of Gujarat.

In Gujarat, a tragic road accident on the Lakhtar-Viramgam highway near Chharad village in Surendranagar district yesterday morning has claimed the lives of seven pilgrims and left several others injured. The incident occurred when a truck ran over a group of devotees who were travelling on foot from Rajkot to Bahucharaji.

2. In Maharashtra, 11 people were killed after a van collided with a cement mixer on a bridge in Thane district.

1. The National Cadet Corps (NCC) has launched a nationwide Cyber Security Capacity Building Programme to equip cadets with digital skills and cyber awareness. NCC and the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology signed a Memorandum of Understanding in the presence of Director General NCC, Lieutenant General Virendra Vats, and Director General (NIELIT), Dr Madan Mohan Tripathi, in New Delhi.

2. The Indian Navy will host the first edition of the Commanders’ Conference 2026 in New Delhi from Tuesday. In a statement, the Ministry of Defence said that the three-day conference will offer a stage for a comprehensive review of the Navy’s operational posture to protect national maritime interests, capability development and strategic alignment with national security objectives.

3. The 7th edition of joint military exercise Dustlik between India and Uzbekistan will be held from April 13 to 25, 2026. The exercise aims to enhance cooperation, interoperability, and joint operational capabilities, reflecting deepening strategic ties with Central Asia.

Legendary singer Asha Bhosle was cremated with full state honours on Monday (April 13, 2026) at the Shivaji Park Crematorium in Mumbai, where a large gathering of mourners came together to pay their final respects to the iconic voice that enthralled generations for more than eight decades.

Wrapped in the tricolour, the mortal remains of Asha Bhosle, fondly known as “Asha Tai,” were consigned to flames following a traditional gun salute by the Mumbai Police.
