The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has decided to re-launch the ‘Raahgiri Days’ programme in Connaught Place from Sunday under the G20 theme. “The Raahgiri programme is being relaunched under the theme of G20 for creating sustainable and liveable cities, with a focus on sustainable mobility. The vehicle restrictions will be in force from 7 am to 10 am on Sunday at the Inner Circle of Connaught Place.

State government was spending a whopping Rs. 1,05, 886.61crore on house constructions in all the 26 districts.

Advancing India’s cyber-preparedness, KAVACH-2023, a national level hackathon was launched to identify innovative ideas and technological solutions for addressing the cyber security and cybercrime challenges of the 21st century. KAVACH-2023 is a one-of-a-kind national hackathon jointly developed by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPRD) and Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre.

11. The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) on Saturday launched the curriculum designed for B. Tech Electronics VLSI Design and Technology and Diploma in integrated circuit (IC) Manufacturing.

1. National Green Tribunal (NGT) has imposed a fine of ₹2,232 crore on the Delhi government for damage caused to the environment due to improper solid and liquid waste management.

2. CBI to summon Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia for questioning in connection with alleged Excise Policy scam case nearly three months after filing charge sheet in case.

3. Supporters of former CM Uddhav Thackeray protested against the Election Commission in Maharashtra’s Jalna over its decision to allot the party name ‘Shiv Sena’ and ‘bow and arrow’ poll symbol to CM Eknath Shinde’s faction.

4. Rajasthan court on Saturday sent one accused to police remand for five days in connection with the alleged abduction and murder of two men by cow vigilantes, while Haryana authorities moved to cancel the arms licence of Monu Manesar who is among the four evading arrest in the case.

1. The 49th meeting of the GST Council is being Chaired by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman after the of the union budget earlier this month.

2. GST Council on Saturday reduced the Goods and Service Tax on liquid jaggery, pencil sharpeners, and certain tracking devices. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said.

3. GST compensation dues will be cleared, including Rs 16,982 crore for the month of June. GST Council has decided to rationalise late fees on filing of annual GST returns after the due date

4. Government reduces reserve price of wheat under Open Market Sale Scheme to check inflation.

ENTERTAINMENT NEWS

1. Recently Union Minister for Culture, Tourism and DoNER, Shri G. Kishan Reddy presented the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar (UBKYP) 2019, 2020 and 2021, at Meghdoot Theatre Complex, Rabindra Bhavan, New Delhi. This Puraskar, given to artists up to the age of 40 years, was introduced in the year 2006.

Ustad ‘Bismillah” Khan was the famous Shehnai musician. who also played at the first Republic Day celebration in 1950. He was the first Indian to be invited to perform at the prestigious Lincoln Centre Hall in the United States of America.

2. The eighth edition of the CGK National Theatre Festival will be held in Bengaluru from February 19 to February 22. The festival is being organised by Ranga Nirantara, the theatre group founded by C G Krishnaswamy who was a well-known name in Kannada Theatre.

3. Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana was named the National Ambassador of Child Rights for UNICEF India on Saturday

4. Telugu Actor Taraka Ratna, who had suffered a heart attack and collapsed during a political foot march in Andhra Pradesh last month, passed away aged 39. He had been battling for life for the past 23 days. Taraka Ratna, who is the cousin of actor Jr NTR, was shifted to Bengaluru for better treatment.

5. Noted yakshagana Bhagavat, Balipa Narayana Bhagavatha died at a private hospital in Moodbidri, Karnataka on Thursday. He was 85.

6. Shahnawaz Pradhan, best known for featuring in series ‘Mirzapur’ and movie ‘Raees’, has died following a heart attack.
He was in his late 50s.

DEFENCE

1. President Droupadi Murmu to visit Defence Services Staff College at Wellington & address members of 78th Staff Course.

2. India produced the first TEJAS FOC Trainer, part of the TEJAS MK-1A program. The Indian Ministry of Defence plans to produce a total of 10 TEJAS FOC Trainers. They are part of a program for the production and commissioning of a total of 40 TEJAS MK-1A series fighters.

3. SAMAR AIR-DEFENCE SYSTEM READY FOR INDUCTION INTO IAF SERVICE: The Indian Air Force (IAF) has completed development of its Surface to Air Missile for Assured Retaliation (SAMAR) system and the weapon has entered an initial production phase.

The new SAMAR-1 air-defence system uses an indigenous Ashok Leyland multi-axle vehicle mounted with a set of refurbished R-73E air-to-air missile missiles on rail launchers.

4. The Government of India had on February 15 approved the construction of a strategically crucial tunnel under the Shinkun La on the border between Himachal Pradesh and Ladakh.The tunnel will be build by the Border Road Organisation (BRO) of the Indian Army at a cost of Rs 1,681.5 crore. The tunnel will be completed by December 2025.

5. DRDO’s Drone, Detect, Deter and Destroy system was one of the products to be displayed at Aero India 2023. This is the first indigenously developed anti-drone system to be inducted into the Indian Armed Forces that is able to tackle any security threat within a 4 km radius. 6. Second batch of cheetahs arrived in India from South Africa on Saturday (February 18). Indian Air Force’s (IAF) C-17 Globemaster aircraft landed in Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior with seven male and five female cheetahs at Gwalior air base. The twelve cheetahs will now be taken to Kuno National Park (KNP) in Sheopur.

7. Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), Israel’s leading aerospace and defence company, and Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), the leading manufacturer of defence electronic products and systems for India’s defence sector, have concluded the agreements to form a joint venture that will extend product support services for India’s Defence Forces.

8. A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between state-owned heavy equipment manufacturer BEML and defence and aerospace firm Bharat Electronics, at the Aero India 2023, for joint development and production of missile modules, airframes and other mechanical systems for some upcoming missile programme.

9. Recently, Garuda Aerospace displayed the solar-powered drone SURAJ at Aero India 2023. It is a solar-powered, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) high-altitude drone which can fly at an altitude of 3,000 ft. It is all set to support the Indian Army, Navy, Airforce, BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, DRDO, MOD, and the Ministry of Home Affairs.

10. The Indian Air Force (IAF) pilot Air Vice Marshal BK Bishnoi, who led the mission to bomb Pakistan Government House at Dacca during the 1971 war passes away on Saturday.

His family hailed from Fazilka in Punjab. He was commissioned into the IAF in 1953. AVM Bishnoi was awarded with Vir Chakra, the third highest war-time gallantry.
