20 police officers killed in terror attack on karachi police chief office in pakistan

1. External Affairs Minister (EAM) Dr S. Jaishankar to be on an one –day visit to Sydney, Australia; EAM to also attend Raisina@Sydney Conference to be held in Australia for the first time.

2. The 3rd meeting of the India-Egypt Joint Working Group on Counter-Terrorism that was held on February 16 in New Delhi, both countries strongly condemned terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.

4. Indian Railways launched Bharat Gaurav Deluxe AC Tourist Train – Shri Ram-Janaki Yatra: Ayodhya to Janakpur from Safdarjung Railway Station, Delhi. The train will cover two most significant pilgrimage sites Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh and Janakpur in Nepal.

5. The 12th World Hindi Conference concluded in Nadi, Fiji. Deputy Prime Minister of Fiji Biman Prasad, External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar, Minister of State for External Affairs V Mueraleedharan and Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra addressed the closing ceremony.

1. Japan’s space agency aborted the inaugural launch of its next-generation H3 rocket on Friday after the auxiliary booster engines failed to ignite.

2. Inca citadel of Machu Picchu was reopened on Wednesday. The UNESCO World Heritage site, was closed more than three weeks ago as anti-government protestors blocked key access routes.

3. Two weeks after Tropical Cyclone Cheneso devastated Madagascar, killing 30 people, the Indian Ocean island nation and its neighbours are bracing for a more powerful Cyclone Freddy.

4. Canada will send navy vessels to the coast of Haiti to gather intelligence as the Caribbean nation continues to reel from economic and political insecurity. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced the decision at a meeting of Caribbean leaders in the Bahamas.

5. US military has said it has successfully concluded recovery efforts in the Atlantic Ocean for the suspected Chinese spy balloon that was shot down by a US fighter jet on February 4. ”

6. Israel on Wednesday approved a law to strip the citizenship of those convicted of terrorism. The accused would be stripped of their citizenship if they receive funding from the Palestinian Authority or an associated organisation. Citizenship can be revoked even if the accused persons lack a second citizenship, provided they have a permanent residence status outside of Israel.

7. Four killed in terror attack on Karachi police chief office in Pakistan, TTP claims responsibility. In a horrific terror attack in Pakistan on Friday evening, four people including three terrorists were reportedly killed after around 5-6 gunmen attacked office of the Karachi police chief.
Police chief and other police officers were reportedly taken hostage during the attack.
