1. PM Modi in Lok Sabha assures, no energy security crisis in the country despite West Asia conflict; Says, government is ensuring smooth supplies of petrol, diesel, oil, gas and fertilizers.

2. The Rajya Sabha yesterday discussed on an Appropriation (No. 2) Bill 2026. It seeks to authorise payment and appropriation of certain sums from and out of the Consolidated Fund of India for the services of the financial year 2026-27.

The government yesterday launched the 7th tranche of auction of critical and strategic mineral blocks, offering 19 blocks across several States to promote mining for sectors such as clean energy, advanced technologies, fertilizers and defence. Speaking on the occasion, Union Coal and Mines Minister G Kishan Reddy expressed confidence that the auction of critical minerals will contribute to faster development of mining-affected areas and promote inclusive growth.

5. On the eve of World Tuberculosis Day, yesterday, President Smt Droupadi Murmu stressed that Tuberculosis continues to pose a significant public health challenge, affecting millions of lives across the world. She urged all stakeholders to work together with collective resolve to end tuberculosis once and for all.

6. Applying for or updating a Permanent Account Number (PAN) card is set to become more document-intensive from April 1, 2026, with revised rules coming into effect nationwide.

*The changes, flagged by CSC e-Governance Services India Limited in a recent post on X, will alter how applicants submit requests for new PAN cards or make corrections to existing ones.

7. Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Monday said that for the “first time” in the world, an underground traffic tunnel is being constructed beneath the runway of Begumpet Airport to ease vehicle congestion coming from the northern part of the state into the city.

8. Indian Railways has successfully commissioned the Kavach Automatic Train Protection System on the Prayagraj (Excluding) – Kanpur (Excluding) section (190 Route Kilometres) of the Delhi-Howrah high-density corridor. The Ministry of Railways said that the commissioning marks a significant milestone in running trains at 160 KMPH, enhancing railway safety and improving operational efficiency on one of the most vital sections of the Indian Railways.

9. Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ashwini Vaishnaw said that the government’s push for democratisation of technology has transformed the television viewing experience in India, making high-quality entertainment more accessible to households across the country.

1. The Supreme Court on Monday has taken a decision in the case pertaining to Ilaiyaraaja Music N Management Pvt Ltd on a plea of Sony Entertainment seeking to transfer to the Bombay High Court a copyright dispute instituted by the music composer’s firm in the Madras High Court. As per the latest update from Live Law, the SC allowed a transfer petition filed by Sony Entertainment seeking to transfer a copyright suit in the Madras High Court to the Bombay High Court.

2. The Telangana High Court has held HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath guilty of contempt of court for wilfully defying a judicial order, directing him to remove all structures and signages erected on seven acres of land forming part of Bathukammakunta in Amberpet and restore it to its original position within four weeks.

3. The Supreme Court on Monday (March 23, 2026) said the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) must probe the financial fraud allegations linked to Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (ADAG) and promoter Anil Ambani in a “transparent, fair and credible manner”, while making a note that the probe agencies’ previous conduct had shown “reluctance” and lack of discipline or structure.

1. Indigenous Microjet Engine: Bengaluru-based Vuvia Defence is developing an indigenous 4 kN microjet engine specifically for jet-powered drones.

2. Exercise Kakadu: The Indian Navy warship INS Nilgiri participated in the multinational ‘Exercise Kakadu’ in the Western Pacific, hosted by the Royal Australian Navy.

3. 100% Indigenous Tank Engines: Armoured Vehicles Nigam Limited (AVNL) has achieved 100% indigenization of engines for BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicles, T-72, and T-90 tanks, eliminating dependence on Russian supply chains.

4. Quantum Sensors for Guided Weapons: The DRDO has issued an RFI to develop quantum sensors for guided weapons. These small, tough sensors will enable highly accurate, GPS-independent precision strikes, making the weapons highly resistant to enemy jamming in difficult environments.

5. Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has entered a pivotal testing phase for Project Kusha, India’s ambitious long-range surface-to-air missile (LR-SAM) program. Reports from early 2026 confirm the successful initial developmental trials of the M1 interceptor variant, marking a significant milestone in the nation’s pursuit of advanced air defence capabilities.

6. The Fire and Fury Corps, in partnership with Jan Shiksha Sansthan, Leh, conducted a Skill Development Programme at Shachukul Village, Tangtse in Ladakh from March 9 to March 21, 2026. This event was part of the Skill India Initiative led by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE).

Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh announced the expansion of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) and the establishment of 100 new Sainik Schools across the country, Speaking at the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of Sainik School Ghorakhal, Singh said the number of NCC cadets will be increased from 17 lakh to 20 lakh, enabling more young people to imbibe values of discipline, leadership, and patriotism.

8. Union Government is set to introduce the Central Armed Police Forces (General Administration) Bill, 2026, in the Rajya Sabha. The proposed legislation seeks to establish a unified legal framework governing recruitment, deputation, promotions and service conditions across all Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs).
