1. The Department of Fisheries, Government of India, is organizing the National Conference on Cold Water Fisheries at the Sher‑e‑Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC), Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir @ 14th March 2026.

2. The government has assured uninterrupted fuel supply to households, hospitals, educational institutions, and other essential services. Domestic LPG production at refineries has been increased by more than 30 percent.

3. The release of Central funds under Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0 will be strictly conditional upon States/UTs meeting four mandatory compliance requirements. These include: signing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU); creation of Sujal Gaon IDs to ensure complete digital mapping of all rural water supply schemes; timely financial reconciliation, and notification of State operation & maintenance (O&M) policies.

4. The Gujarat Government has announced plans to develop 500 villages with high agricultural potential as dedicated ‘Natural Farming Villages. Under this plan, large areas within these selected villages will be transitioned to chemical-free farming in phases.

5. The Maharashtra government has renamed the Divyang Welfare Department as Divyang Empowerment Department, marking a shift from welfare to empowerment.

6. Gujarat has marked a historic milestone in the space research sector with the successful launch of the state’s first sounding rocket at Dholera. The rocket also carried a mini-satellite designed to collect essential weather data. Under the ‘Make in India’ initiative, the rocket’s airframe was developed using carbon fiber and advanced composites at the startup’s laboratory in Ahmedabad.

7. The Uttar Pradesh government has issued nearly 18 lakh new Ayushman cards in three months through special drive. The state government is conducting a special statewide campaign to issue Ayushman cards.

8. Jammu Railway Division of the Northern Railway has decided to extend the operational period of the special reserved train No. 04081/04082. The decision has been taken in view of the large number of pilgrims expected to visit the shrine for Darshan of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi during the auspicious occasion of Chaitra Navratri.

9. In Jammu and Kashmir, the Cabinet has approved an 18 per cent hike in fares for all passenger vehicles. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah chaired a Cabinet meeting in Jammu.

10. Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy inaugurates Green Steel, coal gasification projects in Chandrapur. Speaking on the occasion, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said the projects will strengthen the national economy while addressing climate change challenges.

11. PM Modi inaugurated the Haldia Bulk Terminal, a fully automated dry bulk handling facility developed by Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited (APSEZ) at the Haldia Dock Complex of Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port in Kolkata.

12. In a major reform aimed at improving the ease of doing business in India, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has approved perpetual validity for registrations and licences issued by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). This change means food businesses will no longer need to renew their licences repeatedly. The reform is part of broader regulatory improvements based on recommendations of the NITI Aayog to simplify compliance and reduce administrative burden.

13. Renowned Tamil poet, lyricist and writer R. Vairamuthu has been selected for the 60th Jnanpith Award for the year 2025, India’s highest literary recognition.

14. The Government of India has launched the national initiative “Bal Vivah Mukt Bharat” to make India free from child marriage. The campaign focuses on awareness, community participation, strengthening CMPOs, timely reporting of cases, and empowering at-risk girls through education and skills.

15. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for thunderstorm accompanied by hailstorm and gusty winds over Chandigarh, Haryana, East Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Uttarakhand.

1. Ladakhi activist Sonam Wangchuk was released from Jodhpur Central Jail on Saturday (March 14, 2026), after the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) revoked with “immediate effect” his 170-day detention under the National Security Act (NSA).

2. Supreme Court stays Telangana High Court order mandating 90-day notice for film ticket price hikes: The High Court had earlier directed the State authorities to place any decision permitting a hike in movie ticket prices in the public domain at least 90 days prior to the release of the film.

3. The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has revised the rate for FASTag Annual Pass for the upcoming financial year 2026-27. According to an order issued on March 12, the non-commercial vehicle users will have to pay Rs. 3075, as against the earlier rate of Rs. 3000, for a pass from April 1.

4. Ladakh to protest for safeguards on March 16, despite Sonam Wangchuk release : A protest planned for Monday (March 16, 2026) demanding constitutional safeguards for Ladakh will not be called off even after the release of climate activist Sonam Wangchuk from detention.

5. Jammu and Kashmir Police has constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the attempted firing on former Chief Minister and president of J&K National Conference, Farooq Abdullah. The SIT has been constituted under the supervision of the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Jammu-Samba-Kathua (JSK) Range.

6. Police arrest two wanted Maoists belonging to banned CPI (Maoist) in Jharkhand. The arrested extremists include zonal commander Mrityunjay Bhuiya and sub-zonal commander Bablu Ram.

1. Lt Gen (Retd) Syed Ata Hasnain took oath as the Governor of Bihar on Saturday (March 14, 2026). Patna High Court Chief Justice Sangam Kumar Sahoo administered the oath of office and secrecy to Mr. Hasnain at a ceremony at the Lok Bhavan.

2. Two Indian flagged vessels Shivalik and Nanda Devi have crossed the Strait of Hormuz safely. Special Secretary at Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways Rajesh Kumar Sinha informed.

3. Subedar Sandeep Kumar Dhaka of the Indian Army tragically lost his life while serving during Operation Sheri Kalan in the Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday. The White Knight Corps of the Indian Army paid their respects to the valiant JCO, acknowledging his unwavering bravery, dedication, and selfless service to the country.

1. The major Bollywood movie releasing in theaters on March 19, 2026, is the high-octane spy thriller Dhurandhar: The Revenge, starring Ranveer Singh, Arjun Rampal, and Sanjay Dutt. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film is a sequel to the 2025 hit, set for a wide release including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada, often coinciding with festival dates.

3. Veteran Hindi film actor Madhu Malhotra, known for her roles in several popular films of the 1970s and 1980s, passed away in Mumbai at the age of 71.
