1. President Smt. Droupadi Murmu addressed the Global Conference on Women in Agri-Food Systems (GCWAS-2026) in New Delhi, highlighting the need for greater leadership, policy participation and empowerment of women farmers to build inclusive agricultural systems.

2. Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched multiple development projects over 47,800 crore rupees in Assam yesterday; Also to release 22nd installment of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme.

3. A High-Level Committee, under the Chairmanship of Union Home Minister Amit Shah has approved more than one thousand nine hundred twelve crore rupees of additional central assistance to Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Jammu and Kashmir affected by flood, flash flood, cloudburst, cyclone ‘Montha’ landslides last year.

4. In Tamilnadu, V.K. Sasikala, the former interim general secretary of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), announced her party would be known as All India Puratchi Thalaivar Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AIPTMMK), on Friday.

5. New Delhi has deployed India’s first microalgae-based PureAir Tower along the Aerocity corridor to combat vehicular pollution. The biotech system uses photosynthetic microalgae to absorb CO₂, PM, and NOx, converting pollutants into oxygen and biomass for cleaner urban air.

6. Sanitary pad disposal machines were donated to government high schools in in Karimnagar district, Telangana as part of an initiative to promote menstrual hygiene and health awareness among students. The machines were provided by the Prathima Foundation.

7. Telangana government has declared Gurramguda forest area in the Amangal division in Rangareddy district as a reserve forest. The state government has issued a Government Order (GO) notifying 424 acres and 31 guntas of forest land as Reserve Forest under Section 15 of the Telangana Forest Act, 1967.

8. NITI Aayog launched the second edition of the Fiscal Health Index 2026 in New Delhi. The report evaluates the fiscal performance of Indian states, including Northeastern and Himalayan regions, to promote better fiscal governance and sustainable public finance.

9. The Department of Fisheries, Government of India, organised the National Conference on Cold Water Fisheries at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. The conference brought together policymakers, researchers, industry experts and stakeholders to discuss strategies for sustainable development of India’s cold water fisheries sector.

10. The Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ayush, Prataprao Jadhav, inaugurated Yoga Mahotsav–2026 in New Delhi, formally launching the 100-day countdown to the 12th International Day of Yoga (IDY) to be celebrated in 2026.

11. Vice-President C. P. Radhakrishnan will visit Himachal Pradesh today. He will attend the 9th Convocation of the Central University of Himachal Pradesh at Dharamshala, Kangra district.

The Government of Maharashtra has decided to set up special district-level committees to ensure the uninterrupted supply of domestic and commercial LPG cylinders in the state amid concerns arising from the Iran-Israel conflict. Additional Chief Secretary of the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Department, Anil Diggikar, has directed all concerned agencies to take the necessary steps to maintain smooth LPG distribution and keep a close watch on supplies across the state.

13. The Opposition MPs, including TMC, have submitted notices to both Houses of Parliament seeking a motion for the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Sources said the Secretariats of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha will examine the format of the notices.

14. The Tamil Nadu Government has announced a toll-free number and a WhatsApp number after a distress call from a fisherman stuck in Iran. As of now, a total of 595 fishermen from various districts of Tamil Nadu are stuck in Iran.

15. Former Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena sworn in as 4th Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh.

16. Perplexity has launched Personal Computer, an AI agent that can research topics, write emails, manage files, and automate tasks across devices. The AI tool runs on a Mac mini with secure safeguards and supports multiple AI models like Claude, Gemini, and Grok for advanced automation.

1. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday (March 13, 2026) recorded the statement of businessman Anil Ambani’s son Jai Anmol Ambani in connection with an alleged ₹228-crore bank fraud case. The agency has summoned him again on Saturday (March 14, 2026).

2. External Affairs Ministry’s Fact Check Unit has debunked claims on social media that India has threatened Iran and the Indian Navy has entered the seas against the West Asian nation. The Fact Check Unit has termed the claim as ‘fake’ and asked citizens to stay alert against such baseless claims on social media.

3. The government has refuted a video circulating on social media claiming that ADG Major General CS Mann has made a statement supporting Israel and the USA’s action against Iran. The fact-check unit of the Press Information Bureau clarified that the video is AI-generated and a deepfake.

4. The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has issued a notice to the Delhi Police Commissioner over the reported physical assault and racial abuse of a woman from Manipur by a group of boys in the Malviya Nagar area of South Delhi.

5. The Supreme Court of India has delivered an important judgment regarding the “creamy layer” exclusion in the Other Backward Classes (OBC) reservation system.

The Court clarified that parental income alone cannot be used as the sole criterion to determine creamy layer status. Authorities must also consider the nature of employment, social status, and position held by the parents while determining whether a candidate falls within the creamy layer category.

The term “creamy layer” refers to the economically and socially advanced members of the OBC community who are excluded from reservation benefits.

India is spearheading a transformative overhaul of its military structure through the establishment of four specialised tri-service agencies: the Defence Geo-Spatial Agency (DGA), Data Force, Drone Force, and Cognitive Warfare Action Force.These units form a cornerstone of the Armed Forces Vision 2047, a comprehensive blueprint designed to propel the Indian military into a technologically dominant force by 2030.

2. The Indian Army has undertaken a significant decolonisation effort by renaming 246 roads, buildings, residential colonies, and other facilities across military stations nationwide.These sites previously bore names of pre-Independence British officials, reflecting a colonial legacy now being systematically erased.

3. VTOL Aviation India Private Limited, based in Navi Mumbai, has pioneered the AARAV_ENX6S series drone, a fully indigenous unmanned aerial vehicle designed for both civil and defence applications.This advanced surveillance UAV combines vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) capabilities with fixed-wing efficiency, enabling operations in confined spaces as small as a 10×10 metre area.

4. In March 2026, the Indian Navy has elevated its warships to operational standby in the Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman. This deployment forms part of Operation Sankalp, a sustained mission to shield Indian merchant shipping from escalating regional conflicts.Since June 2019, Indian destroyers and frigates have maintained a rotational presence in these vital waters.

5. Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi recently hosted Lieutenant General Joel B Vowell, Deputy Commanding General of the United States Army Pacific (USARPAC), in New Delhi. 2. What is LPG?

LPG is widely used as a fuel for many everyday purposes. It is commonly used in cooking stoves, heating appliances, and vehicles. It is also used in aerosol sprays as a propellant and in refrigeration systems as a cooling agent.

LPG is usually produced from Natural gas separation
& Crude oil refining. Ethyl mercaptan is added to LPG to detect leaks. LPG is stored in cylinders in liquid form.
