1. The Indian Navy has unveiled TRIDENT-SAMUDRA, an advanced artificial intelligence (AI) powered ocean surveillance system, aimed at significantly improving maritime domain awareness and security across the Indian Ocean Region (IOR). The system was showcased during the AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi.
2. The Indian Army got 626 new officers on Friday, with separate passing out parades of the Winter Term being held at Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai and Officers Training Academy, Gaya. Both academies train officers for the short service commission (SSC).
3. Lance Havildar K. G. George (retd), a decorated hero of the 1965 India-Pakistan War and recipient of the Vir Chakra, passed away at the age of 95 in Kerala. He died at his residence in Kottayam due to age-related health issues. George was widely respected for his courage and dedication during wartime service in the Indian Army, particularly for his role in maintaining vital communication lines during intense enemy attacks. He passed away at age 95 on 7 March 2026, in Kottayam, Kerala.
4. The top hierarchy of the armed forces in India is set for a change. The Chief of Defence Staff, Gen Anil Chauhan, Army Chief Gen Upendra Dwivedi and Navy Chief Admiral DK Tripathi are set to end their tenures in the coming months. The CDS and the Navy Chief retire at the end of May, while the Army Chief retires on June 30.
