2. The Ministry of Defence and the IAF have initiated high-level discussions regarding the immediate purchase of 40 Russian stealth fighters to counter China’s expanding J-20 fleet, bridging the capability gap until the domestic AMCA is ready by 2035.
3. Exercise Dharma Guardian 2026: The 7th edition of the bilateral military engagement between the armies of India and Japan has commenced, focusing on tactical interoperability and will continue until March 9.
4. The Indian Air Force and the Royal Thai Air Force have confirmed a significant joint air exercise conducted on 13 February 2026, which paired Indian Su-30MKI fighters with Thai Gripen jets over the Indian Ocean.This in situ drill underscores expanding interoperability between two contrasting airpower paradigms amid heightened focus on maritime security and dynamic operational tactics.
5. The Indian Navy will commission it’s newest anti-submarine warfare platform, INS Anjadip, in Chennai on February 27. The move marks another step in strengthening India’s coastal defence capabilities and defence self-reliance.
INS Anjadip, part of the Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft (ASW-SWC) programme, will be commissioned by Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi.
6. Northeastern Airspace NOTAM: A Notice to Air Missions has been issued for a major Indian Air Force firepower exercise scheduled for March 2, 2026, covering sensitive airspace near the strategic tri-junction bordering China, Bhutan, and Bangladesh.

Robert Carradine, known for his roles in The Long Riders, Revenge of the Nerds and the television series Lizzie McGuire, has died at the age of 71 after struggling against his nearly two-decade battle with Bipolar Disorder. He was the youngest son of the late American actor John Carradine and the brother of actors David Carradine and Keith Carradine, as well as Christopher Carradine, a former vice president of Walt Disney Imagineering.
